On the evening of August 25, after the final training session at My Dinh National Stadium to prepare for the second leg of the ASEAN Cup 2026 final, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong met and encouraged coach Kim Sang-sik and his team.
Also attending the meeting were Chairman of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Tran Quoc Tuan and Vice President of VFF, Head of the Vietnamese national team delegation at ASEAN Cup 2026 Tran Anh Tu.
Here, Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong praised the achievements of the Vietnamese team after a 2-0 victory over Thailand in the first leg final at Rajamangala Stadium. This result creates a significant advantage for coach Kim Sang-sik's team before the second leg at home.

Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong also emphasized that the team needs to maintain the highest concentration, not be subjective even though they are leading. The players are encouraged to continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, try their best to aim for the goal of successfully defending the ASEAN Cup championship.
On behalf of the whole team, captain Nguyen Quang Hai thanked the attention, encouragement and favorable conditions that the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and VFF have given to the team throughout the journey at the tournament.
Quang Hai affirmed that the Vietnamese team will continue to maintain the spirit of solidarity, adhere to tactical discipline and play with the highest determination in the decisive match, thereby aiming to bring joy to the fans.
Previously, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team completed the final training session at My Dinh Stadium. With a 2-0 lead after the first leg, the Vietnamese team is facing the opportunity to successfully defend the ASEAN Cup championship. However, the whole team determines that the second leg is still an important challenge and needs to play focused and cautious.
The second leg of the ASEAN Cup 2026 final between Vietnam and Thailand will take place at 8:00 PM on August 26th at My Dinh National Stadium.
