VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan visited and encouraged the Vietnamese team during the afternoon training session on July 29, before welcoming Singapore in the second match of Group A of the ASEAN Championship 2026.
Also attending the meeting with the team was VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu. VFF leaders watched the training session and encouraged the whole team in the process of preparing for the match taking place at My Dinh Stadium.
At the meeting, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan praised the fighting spirit and preparation of the coaching staff and players, and highly appreciated the victory in the opening match against Timor Leste. However, he emphasized that the road ahead still has many challenges and the whole team needs to maintain focus, determination as well as make good use of every opportunity to aim to defend the championship.
The VFF President also said that defending the title is always more difficult than the first time he was crowned. However, with careful preparation, appropriate training methods and determination, the Vietnamese team has enough grounds to overcome the challenges ahead. He affirmed that VFF will continue to accompany and create all favorable conditions for the team to complete its tasks at the tournament.
In response to the encouragement of VFF leaders, the coaching staff and players expressed their determination to focus maximally on the confrontation with Singapore, aiming to win all 3 points to create an advantage in the group A race before the away match against Indonesia.
In the afternoon training session on July 29, coach Kim Sang-sik continued to maintain high exercise volume for his players. The coaching staff focused on completing the contents of organizing the playing style, changing states and coordinating tactics in both attack and defense. The players all showed serious training spirit and determination before the important upcoming match.
According to the schedule, the Vietnamese team will host Singapore at 8:00 PM on July 31st at My Dinh National Stadium. This is the first home match of coach Kim Sang-sik's team at ASEAN Championship 2026.
