On July 29, the Vietnam U23 team will officially regroup in a short-term gathering aimed at preparing for ASIAD 2026 taking place in Japan.
In this gathering, head coach Dinh Hong Vinh continues to be assigned by coach Kim Sang-sik to be in charge of professional work for U23 Vietnam. The Korean coach is preparing with the Vietnamese national team for the ASEAN Cup 2026.
The summoned list includes 29 players, including many faces who have participated in the 2026 AFC U23 Championship finals and the CFA Team China international friendly tournament. The notable players called up to the national team include goalkeeper Cao Van Binh; defender Vo Anh Quan; midfielders Nguyen Xuan Bac, Nguyen Thai Quoc Cuong, Nguyen Phi Hoang, Le Van Thuan, Le Viktor, Nguyen Cong Phuong; along with strikers Nguyen Thanh Nhan and Nguyen Quoc Viet.
Because some players are concentrating with the Vietnamese national team or are busy with clubs preparing for the 2026-2027 V.League season, U23 Vietnam cannot have the strongest force yet. The coaching staff will flexibly adjust the concentration plan for some cases to ensure harmony between tasks at the national team and the managing club.
According to the plan, U23 Vietnam will train at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center from July 29 to the end of August 6. This is an opportunity for the coaching staff to continue to assess the performance of the players, review the force and develop personnel plans for the ASIAD 2026 campaign.
ASIAD 2026 will take place from September 19 to October 4 in Aichi and Nagoya (Japan). In men's football, 15 teams are divided into 4 groups, including three groups of 4 teams and one group of 3 teams. According to the draw results, U23 Vietnam is in Group C with Uzbekistan, Philippines and Kuwait.
