The Ngo boat racing viewing stand project in Vinh Long has a total investment of more than 160 billion VND from the provincial budget, with a capacity of about 4,000 people. This is a project expected to meet the needs of watching Ngo boat racing matches.
According to Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang - Deputy Director of Vinh Long Provincial Agricultural Project Management Board, the project was previously committed by the investor to be completed in mid-September. However, the implementation process encountered many difficulties, including a shortage of construction materials, affecting the construction progress.
Up to now, the source of materials for construction, especially for the items of the stands, has been ensured. Before the requirement to complete the project to serve the Ngo boat race in November, the investor is directing construction units to focus manpower and accelerate progress.
According to records at the construction site, many groups of workers are urgently constructing the remaining parts, working overtime to shorten completion time. Mr. Bui Trung Tinh - Head of the construction team of the observation stand watching the Ngo boat racing - said that workers, especially skilled people, are highly focused.
“The workers are very enthusiastic, especially skilled workers. Currently, workers work overtime, if it rains, they work until about 7 pm, and if the weather is nice, they work until 8 pm. Because the construction is urgent, the workers work all Saturdays and Sundays,” Mr. Tinh said.
Mr. Huynh Thanh Minh - representative of the construction unit - said: "Currently, the construction site maintains 100 - 110 workers. We are focusing on completing the stage floor, the inner areas, closing the ceilings of the rooms and completing the doors. When the interior equipment arrives, we will continue to install it. The unit and workers are determined to complete the project to serve this year's Ngo boat racing festival.
In recent days, workers at the construction site have maintained long working hours, including weekends, to speed up the progress of completing the stands.
Mr. Chau Truong Son - a construction worker at the construction site - said: "Over the past time, the progress has been affected by many factors, including weather and construction materials. Up to now, the brothers have agreed to increase overtime and working hours to speed up the remaining tasks. Increasing overtime both helps earn extra income and contributes to bringing the project to completion early, serving the tournament.
