On September 24, Mr. Truong Huu Hieu - Deputy Director of the Project Management Board for Investment in Construction of Civil, Industrial and Technical Infrastructure Works of Quang Tri province said that the unit has issued a document requesting the contractor constructing the green tree item at Thong Nhat Park (belonging to the Hien Luong - Ben Hai Special National Relic Site) to implement remediation of the situation of dead green trees and poor growth.
The Project Management Board requests Hoang Gia General Construction Co., Ltd. to relocate and replace dead green trees; and at the same time strengthen management, care, and protection of planted green trees to ensure good tree growth.
The Project Management Board also requested the contractor to coordinate with the supervision consulting unit to strengthen inspection, supervision and confirmation of implementation results, ensuring that existing problems are overcome as required before handing over the project for use.
Mr. Truong Huu Hieu said that the contractor has ordered new trees to replace dead trees. The green tree item has a warranty period of 3 years, so the replacement is the responsibility of the construction unit.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reported that at Thong Nhat Park, belonging to the Special National Relic Area of Hien Luong - Ben Hai Banks, a situation appeared where many green trees died and withered, affecting the landscape of the relic area.
According to records, some pine trees, almond trees, and coconut trees in the campus show signs of withering and underdeveloped. The Management Board of the Special National Historical Relic Sites on both banks of Hien Luong - Ben Hai said that these trees were planted in the rainy season of 2025 and have not been handed over to the management unit. By about April and May 2026, the trees began to die.
Thong Nhat Park is invested in renovation with a total investment of 80 billion VND from the central budget. The project is invested by the Quang Tri Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board (now the Quang Tri Provincial Civil, Industrial and Technical Infrastructure Construction Investment Project Management Board).
