Durian exports to China decline, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment meets to find solutions
On May 8, Minister of Agriculture and Environment Do Duc Duy chaired a meeting to listen to a report on the current status of management of growing area codes, traceability and solutions to increase durian export activities.
According to estimated figures, Vietnam's durian export turnover in the first 4 months of 2025 will reach about 120-130 million USD, with an estimated export volume of 35,000 tons.

According to the report, in the first months of 2025, durian exports to China recorded a serious decrease, reaching only about 20% of the plan. The consequences not only affect the general target of the whole industry, but also reduce domestic durian prices, only by a quarter compared to export prices.

Petrolimex shares unexpectedly increase the ceiling amid negative information
In the trading session on May 8, PLX shares of Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) surprised everyone when they skyrocketed, hitting the ceiling. After a period of moving sideways, PLX shares unexpectedly increased to the ceiling on May 8 to VND35,800/share, with vibrant trading. Petrolimex's market capitalization is equivalent to more than VND45,000 billion, still nearly 5% lower than at the beginning of 2025.

This price increase story surprised investors when the business results of the first quarter of 2025, Petrolimex recorded net revenue of nearly VND 67,900 billion, down nearly 10% over the same period in 2024. On average, the " tycoon" of petroleum earns 754 billion VND per day. This figure is nearly double Hoa Phat, The Gioi Di Dong, Vietnam Airlines... and only lower than Vingroup on the stock exchange.
Revenue decreased but sales and business management expenses increased. As a result, Petrolimex's after-tax profit was VND11 billion, down 81% over the same period in 2024. This is the second lowest profit level in the past 10 quarters of this petroleum retailer, only slightly higher than the third quarter of 2024.
