On the evening of May 9, Quang Tri General Hospital confirmed that it was actively treating patient P.A.T (born in 1990, residing in Trieu Dai commune, Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province).
The patient was admitted to the hospital in the evening of the same day in a deep coma, cerebral hemorrhage, and had to use a ventilator.
Mr. Vo Trung - Chairman of the People's Committee of Trieu Long commune said that at around 4:00 p.m. on May 9, Mr. P.A.T was driving a motorbike on National Highway 49C, through Trieu Long commune, when he was suddenly hit by a lightning while it was raining heavily. The victim fell onto the road and was discovered by locals and taken to the emergency room.
It is known that Mr. T. is a freelancer. At the time of the accident, there was thunderstorms and lightning in the area where the incident occurred.
In recent days, extreme weather has continuously occurred in Quang Tri province. The heat is severe during the day and evening, often with thunderstorms, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind, posing many potential risks of accidents. Local authorities recommend that people should limit going out during thunderstorms and lightning to ensure safety.
