The fertilizer industry plays an important role in the agricultural value chain, directly linked to crop yield, food security, farmers' income and agricultural export capacity. However, in the context of rapidly changing the world, Vietnam's fertilizer industry is facing many new pressures.
Faced with the new context, on June 16, the Vietnam Fertilizer Association organized the Workshop "Orientations for the development of the national fertilizer industry in the context of global geopolitical fluctuations".
Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Dr. Phung Ha - Chairman of the Vietnam Fertilizer Association - shared: "To maintain the yield and quality of agricultural production, fertilizer is always one of the essential input materials. Therefore, any fluctuations in the world fertilizer market will directly affect production costs, business competitiveness and farmers' income.

At the Workshop, management agencies, scientists, financial organizations and the business community also contributed many practical recommendations, serving the goal of orienting the development of Vietnam's fertilizer industry towards modernity, efficiency, sustainability and international integration.
According to Dr. Nguyen Tri Ngoc, Vice President, General Secretary of the Vietnam Fertilizer Association, emphasized that not only is it under pressure from raw materials and energy, the fertilizer industry is also facing competition from imported goods, green transition requirements, emission reduction and increasingly strict environmental standards.
In the coming period, the development of the fertilizer industry cannot be separated from the goal of building a modern, efficient and sustainable agriculture. When the global market is still uncertain, technological innovation, quality control and green transformation will be key for Vietnam's fertilizer industry to improve its competitiveness," said Dr. Nguyen Tri Ngoc.

The future of the fertilizer industry is shaped in the direction of shifting from traditional fertilizers to more efficient product lines, reducing environmental impact and suitable for modern farming. In which, organic - biological fertilizers, smart fertilizers and precision nutritional solutions are considered notable development directions.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thi Vuong, Vice President of the Vietnam Circular Agriculture Association, Director of the Que Lam Institute for Research and Application of Biotechnology, proposed that there should be more mechanisms and policies to support and encourage organic fertilizer production enterprises by collecting organic waste such as Que Lam Group. As well as policies to protect the domestic organic fertilizer production industry.
Ca Mau Petroleum Corporation also proposed to build a suitable support mechanism to promote technological innovation, improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions in fertilizer production. At the same time, encourage the development of high-efficiency, environmentally friendly fertilizer product lines, suitable to the requirements of green agriculture and increasingly strict international standards. Green transformation is not only an environmental requirement but also an opportunity to improve the competitiveness of the industry in the coming period.
