On May 6, the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) held a Conference of the Organizing Committee for activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the General Staff's Traditional Day (September 7, 1945 - September 7, 2025).
Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan - Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Head of the Organizing Committee - chaired the conference.
At the conference, delegates discussed and gave opinions on the content and topics of the programs, and agreed on the time to organize activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the General Staff's Traditional Day.
After listening to the reports and opinions of the delegates, concluding the conference, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan requested the agencies and units according to their assigned tasks to proactively coordinate, urgently develop plans, scenarios, and program contents, seek opinions from relevant agencies and units, complete reports to the Organizing Committee and the Chief of the General Staff for approval for implementation.
In particular, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan requested that programs and activities must ensure impression, depth, highlight the 50-year journey of building, fighting, winning and growing of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.

Reported at the Conference, Major General Nguyen Ngoc Doan - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the General Staff - Ministry of Defense, Politburo Chairman of the General Staff - said that up to now, the Political Department, the General Staff Department have cooperated with the Vietnam National Defense Strategy and History Institute to build out the propaganda document, consult the agencies, and be able to complete the Standing Committee of the General Staff of the General Party Committee.
At the same time, organize and launch a contest to learn about the history, tradition of 80 years of building, fighting and growing of the General Staff; develop a plan to organize propaganda in the press, a plan to meet with press agencies...
According to the plan, a series of cultural, literary and artistic activities and anniversary funds will be held with many rich contents, such as making traditional films, composing songs about the General Staff; art exchange programs at Dinh Hoa and Thai Nguyen Economic Zones; art theory and art programs; outdoor art programs, military music performances in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City; organizing scientific seminars...
On this occasion, the General Staff also promoted policy and mass mobilization activities such as organizing a journey to the source at Dinh Hoa and Thai Nguyen Security Camps; coordinating the implementation of financial support to build houses of gratitude and solidarity houses;
Surveying, preparing a report, asking for opinions from the Department of Home Affairs on the upgrading of the Martyrs' Cemetery of Trung Khanh District (Cao Bang Province), the Martyrs' Cemetery of Phong Hai Town, Bao Thang District (Lao Cai Province); organizing incense offerings, visiting martyrs' cemeteries, giving gifts to policy families in Dak Lak and Tay Ninh provinces.
The General Staff is coordinating with relevant agencies and units to carry out the restoration and upgrading of the General Staff's relics at Dinh Hoa Security Station (Thai Nguyen), expected to be completed before July 20, 2025 and ready to implement a program of medical examination and treatment, providing free medicine to policy beneficiaries, families in difficult circumstances in the area and many other meaningful activities.
