Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son signed Official Dispatch No. 142/CD-TTg dated December 31, 2024 of the Prime Minister on overcoming the incident at Dak Mi 1 Hydropower Plant.
Telegram sent to the National Civil Defense Steering Committee; Ministers of Industry and Trade, Construction; Chairman of Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee.
The dispatch stated that at around 3:00 a.m. on December 31, 2024, in Dak Choong commune, Dak Glei district, Kon Tum province, a scaffolding incident occurred while pouring concrete at Dak Mi 1 hydropower dam. The consequences left 3 people dead and 2 missing.
Upon receiving information about the accident, the Prime Minister directed to send his warmest regards and deepest condolences to the families and relatives of the victims; at the same time, directed the leaders of the Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee to go to the scene of the accident to direct the overcoming of consequences and visit and support the families of the victims in the accident.
To promptly overcome the consequences and take measures to prevent similar accidents, the Prime Minister requested:
The Ministry of Construction shall preside over and coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the People's Committee of Kon Tum province to organize the assessment of the cause, direct the immediate remediation of incidents, implement measures to ensure the safety of construction works and strictly handle violations of safety in construction activities (if any).
On January 1, 2025, according to information from the Ministry of Construction, immediately after receiving the telegram, the State Appraisal Department of Construction Quality (Ministry of Construction) organized a working group to appraise the cause of the incident and deploy measures to ensure construction safety at the Dak Mi 1 hydropower project.
The Appraisal Department requested the Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee to direct relevant units to organize the protection of the scene, implement safety measures until the completion of the construction incident resolution; prepare relevant records and documents and assign responsible individuals to participate in coordinating with the working group.
