On the morning of September 22, at the headquarters of the People's Council - People's Committee of Phu Dong commune, Politburo Member, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Hanoi City Tran Duc Thang and National Assembly deputies met with voters before the 2nd Session, 16th National Assembly.
Allocate sufficient resources to continue implementing flood control projects
Speaking at the meeting with voters, Secretary of the City Party Committee Tran Duc Thang said that regarding environmental issues, the city has focused highly on waste treatment capacity.
It is expected that by 2027, the city will no longer have landfill waste. All waste will be put into burning for electricity generation. Along with that, the city will treat 34 million tons of old waste that has been landfilled.
The city also focuses on completing the wastewater collection system at 4 inner-city rivers (To Lich, Kim Nguu, Lu, Set) and Cau Bay, Nhue, Day rivers. The submission of restoration water supply for rivers is expected to be implemented from 2028.
Regarding flooding, the city has completed 10 emergency projects and 1 local flood control project in the inner city area.
After the recent heavy rain, the city has also assessed flood data to continue investing in completing the drainage system in a synchronous and strictly controlled direction. Gradually, step by step in a few years, it will be possible to thoroughly overcome flooding in the city" - Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee emphasized.
However, according to Mr. Tran Duc Thang, the cost to invest in flood prevention projects is very large.
With 10 flood control projects deployed, the investment amount is up to tens of trillions of VND. However, only about 20% of flooding locations in the city have been resolved.
Therefore, according to the Secretary of the City Party Committee, it is necessary to allocate sufficient resources to continue implementing flood control projects in the coming time.
A series of large projects are being accelerated
Also at the meeting with voters, Hanoi Party Secretary said that in the Capital, many large projects and works are being accelerated and are reaching the finish line.
Examples include the Ring Road 1 project, which after many years of implementation was technically opened to traffic on September 2nd.
Ring Road 2.5 is expected to be opened to traffic on the occasion of October 10.
The Nhon - Hanoi Station urban railway line is expected to be completed and put into operation on the entire route in 2027.
The new Duong bridge project in Phu Dong commune is in the final sprint phase, expected to be put into synchronous operation in November 2026.
From mid-2027 to the end of the year, the city will complete many large projects and works: Ring Road 3, Ring Road 3.5, Ring Road 4 and 7 river overpasses.
The Gia Binh airport connection road is expected to be completed in June and July 2027.
Hanoi Party Secretary said that new urban railway lines have been started, along with railways connecting Lao Cai, Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, which will connect the historic inner city with the Northern region of the Capital and inter-regional connections.
Hanoi has synchronously deployed 5 urban railway lines with a length of 303.5km. The total investment is about 1 million billion VND.
The city is striving to complete these 5 railway lines along with urban railway line No. 5 Van Cao - Hoa Lac (more than 40km) to be completed by 2030.
