Speaking at the opening ceremony, launching the Peak Month "For the Poor" and Social Security of Hanoi City in 2024, Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong - Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City, Head of the Mobilization Committee of the Fund for the Poor of Hanoi City affirmed that this is an event of profound humanitarian significance, an opportunity for each agency, organization, business in the City and the people of the Capital to demonstrate the spirit of mutual love and affection through practical actions.
The Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City continued to emphasize that ensuring social security and achieving the goal of sustainable poverty reduction is a consistent policy of the Party, the State and Hanoi City to improve the quality of life of the people of the capital, contributing to political stability, social order, and creating momentum for economic development. The City and its member organizations always prioritize resources to effectively implement the set goals and tasks.
In recent years, along with the City's support policies, the City's Fatherland Front at all levels has continued to mobilize and effectively use the Social Security Fund and the "For Vietnam's Sea and Islands" Fund. In 2024, the City's "Relief" Fund allocated 112.49 billion VND to support families of victims who died due to fires, natural disasters, and serious incidents occurring in the area and people in provinces affected by storms No. 2 and No. 3 and floods. In particular, for storm No. 3 and floods in the past September, the City's Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee issued an appeal to mobilize the people of the capital to participate in supporting the affected provinces. As of October 10, 2024, the City's "Relief" Fund has received more than 250 billion VND.
From the above support source, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City promptly supported 23 provinces and cities and 930 students studying in Hanoi whose families were in the affected provinces with a total of 83.99 billion VND and other essential goods worth 1.73 billion VND; supported the people of the Capital with 15.9 billion VND of essential goods and deployed support to build 29 houses, repair 251 houses damaged by storms with a total amount of 13.355 billion VND.
At the launching ceremony, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city announced the completion of 714 Great Solidarity houses; the completion of the Program to eliminate degraded housing for poor and near-poor households in the city by 2024. The program demonstrates the tradition of solidarity of the authorities and people of the capital at all levels, is a humane act, creating conditions for the poor to overcome difficulties in life.
In particular, with the spirit of "Hanoi for the whole country, Hanoi with the whole country", the Party Committee, government and people of the Capital have supported 15 provinces and cities to build 7,140 solidarity houses worth more than 317 billion VND, practically responding to the call "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide from now until 2025" launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. Up to now, poor households in the provinces have been settled in solidarity houses built with the support of sharing and responsibility of the Capital's officials and people. The Fund "For Vietnam's Sea and Islands" annually receives support from 50 to 60 billion VND - affirming the sentiment and responsibility of the Party Committee, government and people of the Capital, regardless of the circumstances, always looking towards Truong Sa with practical actions.
The launching ceremony also included a program to receive support for the City's "For the Poor" Fund; provide livelihood support to households; and honor 16 outstanding collectives with many contributions to poverty reduction and social security in 2023. Right at the ceremony, the City's Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee received support of 27.6 billion VND from agencies, businesses, units, organizations, and individuals.

Not only stopping at social security activities in the capital, every year, Agribank spends about 500 - 600 billion VND to support the construction of schools, medical stations, gratitude houses, solidarity houses, poverty reduction, gratitude, overcoming the consequences of natural disasters...
