Two spouses in the same misery
The house of Mr. and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Tuyet (39 years old), in An Dinh Residential Area (An Thanh village, Chi Minh commune, Hai Phong city), these days is always filled with worries. The wife carries stage 4 breast cancer, liver metastasis; the husband after a work accident also suffers from injuries, health declines. Behind the couple are 5 children and an elderly and sick mother.
Ms. Tuyet has been ill for about 2 years. Since the day she was diagnosed with the disease, the life of a woman who was originally worried about her husband and children has been almost associated with treatment trips. 2 times a month, she takes a bus to Hanoi for chemotherapy.
While his wife is sick, Mr. Pham Dinh Tung (37 years old) still tries to shoulder the family. Currently, he works as a mortar porter and construction worker, earning about 7-8 million VND per month to take care of the whole family.
Few people know that before, Mr. Tung was healthy, hardworking and always looked for ways to earn extra income. He used to farm for hire, anyone hired him for any job tried to hire him. There were times when he worked day and night, even 2-3 jobs at the same time, just hoping his family would have more income.
Then a labor accident caused him to injure his cervical spine. From a person with good health, familiar with heavy work, now his working ability has declined.
The burden in the family also includes Mr. Tung's mother. She is 63 years old this year, has bone pain, often has to take medicine and go to the hospital. Poor health makes her travel difficult.
Money for treatment for Ms. Tuyet, money for medicine for her grandmother, food money, living expenses for the children... expenses kept coming in. With Mr. Tung's income of about 7-8 million VND per month, the life of the whole family became too difficult.
Ms. Tuyet shared that what worries her the most is not only her illness but also her husband and children at home. Being sick and unable to work, seeing her husband having to try to earn money to support the whole family makes her feel even more burdened. She only hopes to have health to continue treatment and her children can still go to school.
Five children are still of eating and learning age
Ms. Tuyet and her husband have 6 children. But one son is gone. In 2019, when she was only 9 months old, she passed away due to a brain tumor.
In the days when her child was sick, the family had to run around everywhere for treatment. Money gradually disappeared, to the point that the couple had to sell their fields to have money to treat their child's illness. But then the most heartbreaking thing still happened. The child passed away, leaving a void that nothing could compensate for, and the family brought an additional debt and difficulty.
Now, in the family, there are 5 children: Pham Thi Kim Ngan, 8th grade; Pham Thi Kim Xuan, 6th grade; Pham Thi Kim Nga, 5th grade; Pham Xuan Nhi, 1st grade and the youngest Pham Xuan Nhat, only 3 years old.
Those children are still at the most carefree age. They still need to go to school, need to be fully fed, need a peaceful home to grow up. But the life of their families does not give them enough like many peers.
Kim Ngan, the eldest daughter, has begun to love her mother and grandmother. Outside of school hours, she helps her mother cook, take care of her grandmother and look after her younger siblings. At an age where she should only focus on studying, she already knows how to share housework when her mother is sick.

According to Ms. Van, what the family is hoping for at this time is probably not something big. It's just that Ms. Tuyet can continue treatment, Mr. Tung still has enough strength to work, and the 5 children can continue to go to school in their childhood days.
