In the afternoon of August 28, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor organized a conference to announce and award decisions on personnel work at the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Sciences.

Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour Nguyen Anh Tuan chaired the conference. Attending the conference were Vice Presidents of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour: Thai Thu Xuong, Nguyen Xuan Hung; representatives of leaders of departments and units directly under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour.

At the conference, Mr. Tong Van Bang - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Labor Relations Department of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour announced Decision No. 357/QD-TLD, dated August 28, 2026 of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour on assigning concurrent positions as Director of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Science, Vietnam General Confederation of Labour.

According to the Decision, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour assigned Mr. Vu Anh Duc, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, to concurrently hold the position of Director of the Institute, from September 1, 2026 until completing the position of Director of the Institute. Mr. Vu Xuan Trung, Deputy Director, will no longer be in charge of directing the Institute's operations from September 1, 2026.

Speaking at the conference, VGCL President Nguyen Anh Tuan assessed that the Institute has an important position and role in the Vietnam Trade Union system, performing scientific research, application and technology transfer tasks, participating in policy making, providing scientific and technological services to protect the health and lives of workers, improve working conditions and contribute to sustainable development...

The President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour assessed that Mr. Vu Anh Duc is an official with expertise in the field of labor protection, who has worked and completed well the assigned tasks in the past time.

Currently, Mr. Vu Anh Duc is the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, from September 1st, concurrently holding the position of Director of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Sciences, therefore the Party Committee, the collective of officials and civil servants of the Institute need to actively coordinate with Mr. Vu Anh Duc to build and promulgate new regulations on the organizational structure and operation of the Institute; the Institute must continue to innovate, closely follow the requirements of workers and trade union organizations; take workers as the center, take practice as the starting point and take application efficiency as a measure of scientific and technological activities; transform research results into practice to protect the health of workers; research tasks must closely follow production practices, the needs of union members and workers and the requirement to participate in building policies and laws of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor..." - Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan directed.

At the conference, Mr. Vu Anh Duc expressed that he was very honored to be trusted by the Standing Committee of the VGCL to concurrently hold the position of Director of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Sciences. This is both an honor and a great responsibility for him personally.

New Director Vu Anh Duc promises to make the highest efforts, wholeheartedly and responsibly; together with the leadership team, officials, employees and workers of the Institute, focus on performing well some key tasks.

In which, continue to build a united, democratic, disciplined and professional Institute collective; review and consolidate the organizational structure, clearly assign tasks; promote the responsibility of the head and promote the capacity and strengths of each official and employee.

Clearly define the research orientation of the Institute in the new period; focus resources on major and urgent issues of occupational safety and health; promote the application and transfer of research results; link scientific research with labor environment monitoring, risk assessment and control, prevention of occupational accidents and diseases, improvement of working conditions and health care for workers. Scientific products of the Institute must be applicable in practice, reach businesses, grassroots trade unions and workers.

Pay attention to building a team of scientific cadres with high professional capacity, interdisciplinary research capacity, mastering new technologies and meeting international integration requirements...
