Article 179 of the Land Law 2024 (effective from August 1, 2024) regulates agricultural land funds used for public purposes as follows:

2. Agricultural land fund used for public purposes of communes, wards and towns for the following purposes:

b) Compensate people whose land is recovered when constructing works specified in Point a of this Clause.
3. For unused land areas for the purposes specified in Clause 2 of this Article, the Commune-level People's Committee shall lease them to local individuals for agricultural production and aquaculture in the form of auction. . The land use term for each lease shall not exceed 10 years.
