This year, candidates witnessed many unexpected changes when a series of universities adjusted their admission plans, including a sharp reduction or elimination of the C00 combination - which has long been a familiar choice for candidates in the Social Science category. This change has caused many students to be confused and passive in their admission orientation.
Having long loved the Law major, Quynh Trang - a 12th grade student at Dong Son 2 High School (Thanh Hoa) decided to invest in the C00 complex from the beginning.
"I have determined that according to the C00 group since the beginning of grade 10, I have invested a lot of time in Literature, History, and Geography. When I learned that this combination had been reduced, even eliminated from the admission plan of many schools, I was really surprised. Now if we change the combination, it will not be in time, but if we keep it the same, the opportunity to enter the dream industry will be reduced" - Trang wondered.
The C00 complex is one of the traditional and popular combinations in university admissions, especially at schools training in the fields of social sciences and humanities, journalism, law, etc. However, the 2025 admission season marks a remarkable change when many higher education institutions have strongly adjusted the admission method and changed the complex structure.
The University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) has a series of majors that are no longer considered for admission using the traditional C00 group such as: Journalism; Social work; Psychology; Sociology...
The Academy of Journalism and Communication also eliminated the admission of the C00 group in many training majors.
The University of Law - Vietnam National University, Hanoi announced the removal of the C00 combination admission from the 2025 admission season, replacing it with compulsory combinations with Math or English.
In 2025, Hanoi Open University will consider admission to majors of Law, Economic Law, International Law with admission combinations D01 (Math, Literature, English), C01 (Math, Literature, Physics), C03 (Math, Literature, History), C14 (Math, Literature, Economic and Legal Education) and will not consider admission to the C00 combination as in previous years.
Sharing about the decision to remove this combination, MSc. Do Ngoc Anh - Director of the Center for Communication and Admissions, Hanoi Open University - said that during the training process, the school realized the need to have certain similarities in student input to improve the quality of training. All decisions are attended and consulted by a scientific and training council to ensure suitability with practice.
"According to the admission regulations, admission scores are not considered according to each combination or method, so ensuring fairness in admission for candidates is very necessary, avoiding too many differences in points in admission combinations. With the above 4 admission combinations, candidates have more opportunities to register for admission to Hanoi Open University" - MSc. Do Ngoc Anh explained.
