Positive signal for the performance industry
The 12 key industries in the Strategy for developing Vietnam's cultural industry to 2030 with a vision to 2045 of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism include the performing arts sector (including music, circus, dance...).
The most recent meeting took place on October 14 at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to continue discussing the outline of the development strategy for cultural industries in Vietnam in the coming time. In particular, the main goal is to develop cultural industries into important economic sectors, requiring cultural industries to create products and services with cultural and economic values, meeting the needs of consumption and cultural enjoyment of the people.
On the evening of October 19, the two concerts Anh trai say hi and Call Me by Fire were held at the same time, serving up to 20,000 audiences per show, which is considered an unprecedented phenomenon in the Vietnamese music market.
Vietnamese audiences have long been accustomed to small, sparse live shows with names that can be counted on one's fingers.
In 2022, My Tam organized the Tri Am live show at My Dinh Stadium with the participation of about 30,000 spectators, which overwhelmed the music world. This live show became a major music event of the year, and at the same time, a rare event in the long-term performance market in Vietnam.
By 2023, Ha Anh Tuan will organize the live show "Radiance Horizon" with about 20,000 audiences in Ninh Binh. Every year, Vietnamese music has a live show that is enough to make the audience excited.
Therefore, on the same evening of October 19, in the same city, there were 2 large-scale live concerts held, which was considered unprecedented.
Immediately after that, the organizers of the two "brother" programs both announced the next live concert to be held in Hanoi. Thus, within just about 4 months, "Anh trai say hi" had 3 large-scale concerts, Call Me by Fire held 2 nights, a total of 5 live concerts were held continuously.
With a large audience of 20,000 - 30,000, concert tickets are all "sold out" and sought after by audiences, proving that the performance market in Vietnam is more promising than ever.
A look at the billion-dollar industry in Kpop
Musician Quoc Trung believes that for the performance industry in Vietnam to develop, it requires the efforts and ambitions of many elements, from producers, performance companies, to artists in many fields, from composition, staging, choreography to performing singers.
Looking at the Korean Kpop industry, we can see the huge economic benefits that music brings to Korea. Concerts by BTS, Blackpink or any famous group bring huge profits to many industries, from tourism, cosmetics, fashion to the business products of the companies that manage the groups.
Laying the foundation for the thriving billion-dollar Kpop empire today is the group Seo Taiji and Boys.
In 1992, rap was a very strange genre of music to Koreans. Seo Taiji and Boys used Western music, in which the main material was pop, rap combined with choreography, performing according to the concept (idea) brought a new breeze, created a strong attraction, and laid the first brick for Kpop.
The power of handsome men who can sing, rap and dance was only truly evident in Vietnam when Anh trai say hi and Call Me by Fire aired from the end of June 2024.
With the same formula applied, the smooth combination of artists with appearance, talent, supporting each other in group performances has brought strong attraction to the 2 Brother programs. Each performance is not only "pleasing to the ears" in terms of listening, but is also staged to be visually pleasing.
The success of Anh trai say hi or Call Me by Fire has a great contribution from the team of dancers, choreographers, and stage designers. It is the unique stage design ideas, along with the support of dozens of dancers, that create the atmosphere and satisfaction for the performances.
