On August 25, the Organizing Committee of the 33rd Golden Eagle Television Awards announced the official nomination list. Six actresses competing for the Best Leading Actress title include Ma Yili with "My Altay", Ren Suze with "The End of Infinity", Yan Ni with "The Girl in the Alley", Wu Yue with "Silent Glory", Song Jia with "When Mountain Flowers Bloom" and Yang Zi.
In this list, Duong Tu is a prominent face in the group of actors with a large fan base.
Duong Tu's entry into the final list shows that the actress is making a clear shift from idol projects to realistic films. However, she has to compete with a series of talented actors, including Tong Giai, Ma Y Loi, Diem Ni and Ngo Viet, who all have roles highly appreciated by experts.
The biggest surprise belonged to Duong Mich. Before the list was announced, the actress was predicted to be able to compete for the award thanks to "Sinh Van Vat". The work achieved good broadcast success, and also marked Duong Mich's efforts to change her image after a long time associated with commercial and ancient idol films.
Although "Sinh Van Vat" was nominated in the TV series category, Duong Mich was not named in the list of Best Leading Actress. Conversely, two actresses of the film, Tri Bong and Tan Hai Lo, both received nominations for Best Supporting Actress. This result makes Duong Mich's acting ability and level of transformation continue to become a topic of debate.
Zhao Liying is also absent from this year's season. Previously, she won the Best Leading Actress title at the 32nd Golden Eagle Awards thanks to the role of Xu Banxia in "Wind Blows Half Summer".
Zhao Liying's project "Small Story in the City" was once in the group of works participating in the voting process, but did not help her be present in the list of the last six candidates. However, not being nominated this time does not mean that her acting quality is denied, because each Golden Eagle has a different judging cycle and level of competition.
Liu Yifei also did not appear in the nomination list. After "Going to the Windy Place" and "The Story of Roses", the actress received many positive feedbacks when switching to television dramas. However, she continued to miss the opportunity to compete for the Golden Eagle Empress title.
In the Best Actor category, six nominations belonged to Vu Hoa Vy, Vuong Nhan Quan, Vuong Bao Cuong, Vuong Kieu, Ho Ca and Quach Kinh Phi.
The 33rd Golden Eagle Award received 719 works participating in the award consideration, including 203 television dramas. After checking qualifications, two online voting rounds and the preliminary and final evaluation process, the organizing committee will determine the nomination list.
The final results will be announced at the closing and award ceremony held on August 30.
