Appearing on the "Hot Ones" program, female star Emily Blunt shared about the hardships in the process of collaborating with action superstar Tom Cruise.
The two had a memorable connection experience when they both had to put on giant mechanical armor to serve the science fiction film "Edge of Tomorrow" (2014).

When participating in director Doug Liman's film project, both Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt had to face a tight filming schedule and a series of dangerous action scenes.
In which, the biggest pressure for the British actress is not the explosions, it is the weight of the Exosuit armor, forcing them to wear it throughout the filming process.
To maximize the authenticity of the frames, director Doug Liman decided to create mechanical costumes entirely with high-tech real props, instead of using digital image simulation (CGI) or blue screen technology. This unintentionally became an extreme physical challenge for the actors on set.
We had to wear extremely heavy armor. My suit weighed about 85 pounds (equivalent to more than 38.5 kg). It was so heavy that right from the first time I tried on it and tried to move, I was completely helpless and burst into tears right in front of Tom Cruise," Emily Blunt shared.
The actress explained that she herself was originally a steel spirit and rarely shed tears in front of the crew. However, the weight of the costumes weighing heavily on her spine and joints completely overloaded her body. She looked straight at her co-star and said helplessly: "Tom, I really don't know how to get through this filming series anymore".

Facing his co-star's mental crisis, Tom Cruise had a frank response to help her regain her composure. Emily Blunt recounted: "He just stood still and stared at me for a few seconds because he was a little confused. But then right after that, he approached, leaned close to my ear and said:'Come on, don't be so weak anymore, okay?'".
Instead of feeling offended, Emily Blunt said that the strictness and humor at that moment immediately relieved her psychological pressure.
Tom Cruise's words helped her wake up, immediately wipe away tears and burst into laughter to continue moving into the set.
This moment also helped the relationship between the two stars become closer and more understanding during the long time working together.
Although she has overcome the mental barrier, the physical injuries that Emily Blunt suffered after the film are completely real. To complete the action scenes, the actress had to continuously perform somersaults and landfall while her body had to load an additional amount of equipment almost equal to her body weight.
As a result, Emily Blunt suffered a rib injury and collarbone damage.
After being released in 2014, "Edge of Tomorrow" received a shower of praise from both experts and global audiences. The film is highly appreciated for its intelligent plot, realistic action scenes and especially the harmonious combination between Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise, becoming one of the typical science fiction works of world cinema.
