The reason Netflix continuously recruits new, less famous actors

Netflix has become one of the positive platforms creating opportunities for new, less famous actors, promoting them to become global stars.

The Korean content market is facing difficulties in finding new actors. Although familiar stars still ensure a stable level of entertainment, audiences are increasingly tired of the fact that works continuously use familiar A-list stars.

In that context, Netflix released many works using new or less famous faces to increase the attractiveness of the story and attract viewers.

Released on June 5, "Teach you a lesson" has held the No. 1 position on Netflix's global non-English TV show chart for 3 consecutive weeks. This success has also led to increasing interest in the cast.

Audiences not only pay attention to the main characters throughout the film, but are also attracted by the actors who take on central roles in each episode.

Park Ji Yeon is almost still an unknown actress despite being active for 15 years in the entertainment industry. But thanks to the role of an overzealous parent, constantly putting pressure and maliciously complaining to teachers in episode 5 of "Life's Lesson", Park Ji Yeon left a strong impression and was sought after.

Actors playing villains in the film such as Lee Bong Jun, Park Seo Yoon also succeeded in arousing the audience's anger, thereby promoting the level of discussion and interaction with the film.

Meanwhile, "If wishes could kill" released in April created a buzz when putting new actors at the center.

The film brings together a cast of rising young actors such as Jeon So Young, Kang Mi Na, Baek Sun Ho, Hyun Woo Suk, Lee Hyo Je and Choi Ju Eun.

Besides the solid director, attractive script and novel ideas, the film's success is also thanks to the performances of new faces.

Netflix has long had remarkable achievements in creating opportunities for new actors. "Sweet Home" once helped the public recognize the potential of Song Kang and Lee Do Hyun. After the movie, both quickly received great attention and continuously took on leading roles in many projects.

The global phenomenon "Squid game" also became a turning point for senior supporting actors such as Heo Sung Tae and Kim Joo Ryoung to elevate their careers. The film also turned Jung Ho Yeon into an international star right in her debut acting work.

The glory" also followed a similar direction. Bad actors such as Park Sung Hoon, Kim Hieora, Cha Joo Young and Kim Gun Woo were all known to the public more widely and won many important roles afterwards.

In addition, the outstanding performance in Lee Yeon's "Judgment of Minors", or in Roh Jae Won and Lee Sang Hee's "Warm Sunshine Every Day", also helped previously less noticed actors reach a larger audience.

Experts believe that this series of successes shows that the entertainment industry has a real need for new, less famous faces.

Previously, just one famous star appearing was enough to create attraction, but the explosion of online content makes viewers increasingly tired of the model of relying on traditional stars.

Although choosing "rating guarantee" actors is still a financially safe option, viewers believe that it makes the films become outdated and lack novelty.

Viewers currently prioritize many unfamiliar faces rather than actors with available fame. They bring unexpected attraction, create a fresh feeling and help the audience immerse themselves more in the story.
