Quang Ninh - Yen Tu is considered the birthplace of the Sacred Heart because it is where Buddha, King Tran Nhan Tong initiated the Truc Lam Zen movement with a strong philosophy of human life and Vietnamese identity.
The Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac Scenic Landscape Complex was recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage at 6:02 p.m. on July 12, 2025, in Paris, France.
This inter-provincial World Heritage includes a system of 12 relics/relic clusters, distilled from hundreds of relics and scenic spots of 6 special national relic sites in 3 localities of Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh and Hai Phong.
The relics and scenic spots of the Complex are all located in the landscape of the East Sea, specifically the Yen Tu mountain range with a system of plains, rivers, and seas originating from and surrounding it.
This place used to be one of the four "land" of Giao Chau, and was also the original hometown of the Tran family - the family that established a brilliant monarchy of the Dai Viet nation in the 13th - 14th centuries.
