Ngu Thu Han's representative office posted an official statement, protesting the act of illegally using the actress's face and voice to produce content using artificial intelligence (AI).
Previously, a series of videos and short films using deepfake technology appeared on Chinese social networks. Content producers extracted, assembled the face and simulated Ngu Thu Han's real voice without her consent.
The actress's side believes that this is an act of taking advantage of technology to infringe on personal rights, not simply creating or entertaining.
Ngu Thu Han has never participated in filming or recording any such content. We have also never allowed any organization, platform or individual to use her image and voice for AI purposes," the representative office affirmed.
Accordingly, all videos, short films or animated films on the market intentionally using appearance, facial features and voice similar to Ngu Thu Han are not products with the actress's participation.
The representative office emphasized that the rights to images and voices are personal rights protected by law. Using technology to ghép, fake or create content that makes the public misunderstand Ngu Thu Han's direct participation is assessed as exceeding the legal limits.
The actress's side requested the producers who posted the violating content to immediately stop the act, remove and permanently delete all AI-synthesized images and sounds related to her.
Representative offices said they have collected and stored evidence for circulating content. Individuals, organizations, or platforms that refuse to remove it after receiving a warning may be subject to legal proceedings.
For entities that ignore statements, try to avoid or do not delete violating content, we will initiate legal procedures to protect Ngu Thu Han's legitimate rights and interests," the actress's side said.
Before the announcement was made, some viewers discovered that the character in a short animated film created by AI had a similar shape and facial features to Ngu Thu Han. Not only images, some other products also simulate voices, making it difficult for viewers to distinguish real from fake.
The representative office also called on viewers not to watch, download or share unverified videos. Interaction and dissemination can continue to increase the scope of influence of fake content, while harming the artist's image.
