The opening night of the 73rd Miss World program at Ha Long Marina Sea Square attracted about 10,000 direct attendees. The highlight of the show was the performance of the Ao Dai collection "Tinh hoa lua Viet" by designer Do Trinh Hoai Nam.
111 international contestants appeared in ao dai designs adjusted according to their own figures, integrating colors, national flags or cultural symbols of the representative country. Accompanying the costumes are conical hats hand-painted with images of Ha Long Bay and Yen Tu relic complex - two typical local heritages.
The representative of the host country Vietnam competing in this year's season is Miss Le Nguyen Bao Ngoc. Once crowned Miss Intercontinental 2022 and won the title of 1st runner-up Miss World Vietnam 2022, the beauty appeared in ao dai and evening gown performances at the opening night, receiving accompaniment and encouragement from domestic audiences.

The event was attended by representatives of Quang Ninh provincial leaders, representatives of central agencies, along with leaders of Miss World Organization and international beauty queens and kings. The program was broadcast on local television systems and digital platforms of the contest.
Besides the opening night, the series of activities in the first 5 days of the competition will bring contestants to access many different cultural spaces.
Incumbent Miss World Opal Suchata and representatives of countries visited Tran Quoc Nghien Temple, Quang Ninh Museum and experienced a three-walled sailboat in Ha Long Bay.
At the Quang Ninh Museum, contestants learn about the history of urban formation, the coal mining industry and the lives of people in the mining area. Meanwhile, activities on three-walled boats recreate the travel space associated with the traditional life of Ha Long fishermen.
Within the framework of the program, the organizing committee and the contestants also participated in community activities at the Quang Ninh Provincial Social Assistance Center. The delegation presented 75 gifts and cash worth a total of 200 million VND to children in difficult circumstances.
Through the mobile application and social media channels of the contest (currently connecting viewers in more than 140 countries), images of Quang Ninh's culture, infrastructure and people are posted by contestants, spread throughout the opening leg.
