To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024), at the Heritage Building, No. 49 Tran Hung Dao - 46 Hang Bai (Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi), the opening ceremony of the photo exhibition "Hanoi - A Time to Remember" by two photographers Andy Soloman and Le Bich took place.
The event was organized by the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District, the Management Board of Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter in collaboration with two photographers Andy Soloman and Le Bich.
Andy Soloman is a British photographer who first set foot in Hanoi in October 1992. He lived in the city for 7 years and often returned whenever he had the chance. Andy Soloman took pictures of the city and people in Hanoi at the time of the renovation policy.
The other photographer is Le Bich, originally from Hanoi. He has won many photography awards and has a special passion for Vietnamese art, culture and traditions. This year, he has an exhibition called “Mother’s Love” held at the Vietnam Women’s Museum.
The 86 black and white photos in the collection were taken over a 20-year period, from 1992 to 2012. These are rare documents, recording the lives of Hanoians during the renovation period, when the city began to undergo major economic changes.
The photos not only give viewers a nostalgic feeling but also give them a look at Hanoi's transformation through the ages.
