After nearly a week in theaters, the movie "Trum So" - a project marking Duc Thinh's return to cinema is currently grossing more than 5.3 billion VND (as of the afternoon of April 29) and is in the top 5 box offices. However, this result is considered quite modest in the context that the Vietnamese film market during the April 30 holiday is bustling with many strong competitors.
According to data from Box Office Vietnam, in the 3 weekend days of the ancestral death anniversary, the film grossed more than 3 billion VND, accounting for about 3.3% of total market revenue, with more than 29,000 tickets sold. Meanwhile, the leading positions respectively belong to names such as "Heo nam móng", "Phí phông: Quỷ máu rừng thiêng", "Anh hùng" and "Đại tiệc trăng máu 8".
Notably, according to reporters' records, one of the main reasons why the movie "Trum So" is facing difficulties at the box office is the quite limited number of screenings. Specifically, the movie only has more than 500 screenings per day, significantly lower than its competitors. Compared to the leading movie "Heo Nam Mong", "Trum So" only achieves about 1/5 of the screenings.
The small distribution of screenings, along with many unfavorable time slots, makes it difficult for the work to reach the general public. This is considered to directly affect revenue growth, especially during the "golden" period of the holidays.
Faced with this situation, director Duc Thinh could not hide his regret. In an exchange with the audience, he shared that he did not clearly understand why the film had few screenings, and also said that many screenings fell into unfavorable time slots, making it disadvantageous for viewers. "This has significantly affected revenue," the male director expressed.
Not only him, the production crew has also made efforts to promote the film in the past time. Artist Thanh Thuy - Duc Thinh's wife actively accompanies in communication activities, from audience interactions to organizing campaigns to attract attention.

In addition, the film crew also implemented many forms of promotion such as giving gold to the audience, organizing fan meetings at theaters... However, the effectiveness was not as expected in the context of a fiercely competitive market.
However, according to many viewers, in addition to few screenings, Duc Thinh's movie "Trum So" is difficult to compete outside the box office because the film's content lacks breakthroughs. The comedy segments of the film are old. On the other hand, currently viewers have too many choices outside theaters with 5 Vietnamese films and a series of foreign films, animated films. Therefore, the male director's project is somewhat overshadowed when competing.
Boss" is a project that Duc Thinh put a lot of heart into when taking on the role of director, main actor and co-screenwriter after 6 years of absence. However, the reality of the box office shows that returning to the film race is not easy, especially when having to compete directly with many highly attractive works.
