According to Naver's report on popular search keywords in 2023 published - using data collected from January to November, the most searches for a TV show on the platform's mobile app this year are Netflix's drama "The Glory".
The Glory is a 16-episode film, with the theme of revenge, revolving around the story of Moon Dong Eun (Song Hye Kyo) - a woman who plans to take revenge on those who bullied her in high school.
With a dark plot and impressive acting by the cast, especially Song Hye Kyo, The Glory quickly became famous and loved worldwide. According to Netflix, the film was the 3rd most watched on the platform in the first half of 2023, with a total of 622.8 million viewing hours.
Following The Glory is the historical romance film My Dearest by Nam Goong Min - Ahn Eun Jin. Jung Jung Jung Jung-Jeon Do Yeon's "Crash Course in Romance", superhero film "Moving" and dating show "single's Inferno" are in the top 5 in terms of searches among Naver's mobile TV shows.
Naver added that The Glory and Crash Course in Romance were the most searched keywords in January and February on the platforms mobile application, respectively.
In the film category, the most searched film on the app from January to November is The Roundup: No Way Out - season 3 of the Korean crime action series.
The film attracted attention when it sold 10 million tickets after 32 days since its release in Korea on May 31 - showing the appeal of detective Ma Seok Do (Ma Dong Seok) when confronting strong, cruel villains.
The second most searched film is Oppenheimer, followed by the Japanese animated film Suzume (Knock on Suzume), the Disney animated film Elemental and the Korean crime action film Smugglers.
According to Naver, Suzume and The Roundup: No Way Out were the most searched keywords on Navers mobile app in March and June, respectively.
In December, the most searched phrase on Naver's mobile app was the Korean drama 12.12: The Day - a historical drama about a short period of time to stop the new military coup that took place in Seoul (Korea) on December 12, 1979.
12.12: The Day features Jung Woo Sung, Hwang Jung Min, Lee Sung Min, Kim Sung Kyun and cameo (guests) Jung Hae In, Lee Joon Hyuk, Jung Man Sik. The film was released in Korea in November and has now surpassed 11 million tickets.
