According to the media, although Korean cinema has gone through a difficult year, it has maintained its connection with the audience through many genres and new efforts. Thanks to that, Baeksang's film categories this year have a list of more attractive candidates.
The 5 films competing for Best Feature Awards include Love in the Big City, House Of The Seasons, Uprising, Harbin and Revolver.
The Best Director award includes the nominees Park Woong Ri (The Land of Morning Calm), Oh Seung Wook (Revolver), Woo Min Ho (Harbin), Lee Eon Hee (Love in the Big City) and Lee Jong pil (Escape).
Best New Director includes Kim Se Hwi (Following), Nam Dong Hyeob (Handsome guys), Oh Jeong Min (House of The Seasons), Lee Mi Rang (Concerning My Daughter) and Jeong Ji Hye (Jeong- Sun).
The Best Actor award is a competition between Lee Byung Hun (The Match), Lee Hee Joon (Handsome guys), Jo Jung Suk (Pilot), Hyun Bin (Harbin) and Yoon Joo Sang (The Land of Morning Calm).
Meanwhile, the Best Actress award has fierce competition with many famous faces. After winning the Baeksang Best Actress Award last year for Exhuma, Kim Go Eun continued to be nominated in the same category this year for the female lead role in Love in the Big City. She is also a candidate that many viewers predict has a high chance of winning.
Kim Go Eun will compete with Jeon Do Yeon (Revolver), Jo Yeo Jeong (Hidden Face), Kim Geum Sun (Jeong- Sun) and Song Hye Kyo (Dark Nuns). This is the first time Song Hye Kyo has been nominated for Best Actress at Baeksang. The actress attracted attention with her female lead role in the supernatural horror film Dark Nuns.
The Best Supporting Actor category includes the nominees Koo Kyo Hwan (Escape), Park Jung Min (Uprising), Yoo Jae Myung (Land of Happiness), Jung Hae In (Veteran 2), Jo Woo Jin (Harbin).

The Best New Actress award went to Roh Yoon Seo, Park Ji Hyun, Lee Myung Ha, Lee Hye Ri and Ha Seo Joon. While the Best New Actor award went to Kang Seung Ho, Noh Sang Hyun, Moon Woo Jin, Jang Seong Beom and Jeong Seong Il.
The nominees for the Best Score award are Kim Hyung Joo and Yoon Jong Bin from The Match, Park Yi Woong from The Land of Morning Calm, Shin Cheol and Park Chan Wook from Uprising, Oh Seung Wook and Joo Byul from Revolver, Oh Jeong Min from House of The Seasons.
