According to the content received on the Korean National Pledge Portal on August 10, a complaint has been sent to the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, requesting to inspect the entire process of approving the 10th anniversary event of the Blackpink group at the Korean National Museum.
Currently, this application has been transferred to the Inspection Department of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
This complaint is aimed at the process of approving and organizing the "Meet & Greet" event to celebrate Blackpink's 10th anniversary of debut, taking place at the National Museum of Korea on August 8.
The event was attended by 40 fans selected through a draw, along with all 4 Blackpink members - Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, Lisa.
The focus of the debate lies in the process of deciding to organize a fan meeting and the actual impact of the event on the museum's operations.
Previously, YG Entertainment announced the fan meeting on Weverse on August 6, which is only 2 days before the event. It is known that until the afternoon of August 7, the organizers were still continuing to exchange and adjust details about the specific location inside the National Museum of Korea.
On the day of the event, some exhibition areas were restricted from entering and leaving, and the schedule of existing education programs was also changed.
A painter in charge of the program "Visiting the Amazing Thailand exhibition + painting workshop", said on X that the program should have started visiting the exhibition from 2:30 PM, but she was "forced to extend the theoretical lecture to 3:10 PM".
Thus, in reality, some spaces have been controlled and workshop schedules have been changed due to Blackpink's fan meeting. Regarding this issue, some people also expressed their inconvenience on social networks.
This complaint requests clarification of whether Blackpink's fan meeting is organized in the form of renting venues from outside, or is it a joint event or a cultural and promotional project of the National Museum of Korea; and at the same time check the process of approving the use of facilities, the restriction of visitors at some display areas, changes in the schedule of existing programs and the process of posting notices on the website.
In particular, the complaint requests that, if errors are detected in administrative handling, necessary measures should be taken such as correction, reminding, improvement or making recommendations. If signs of crimes related to public duty are detected, it is even proposed to consider transferring the case to the investigating agency.
According to the media, this complaint is not aimed at protesting the cultural cooperation between Blackpink and the National Museum of Korea itself. In fact, in February, the National Museum of Korea once implemented an official global cooperation project with Blackpink.
The issue that the complaint wants to clarify is whether a private event for a small number of fans has been approved at the national museum with what basis and administrative procedure, and whether in the process, the museum use of existing programs and ordinary visitors is considered satisfactorily or not.
Blackpink debuted on August 8, 2016 and this year celebrates 10 years of operation. However, the event for fans on the occasion of the group's 10th anniversary faced controversy even before it took place.
The event was only announced for registration 2 days in advance, while the number of attendees was limited to 40 people, causing a part of fans to be upset and turn their backs on the group.
