The male artist is known for his versatile image when he both sings, acts, makes music and does culinary business. However, Ta Dinh Phong said that constantly trying his hand in many fields before did not entirely come from ambition, but also from the fear of failure and not meeting the requirements he set out.
I'm afraid I won't meet expectations. I'm afraid I'm failing," he said.
Nicholas Tse said that he has been prone to anxiety since childhood and always demands very high from himself. This makes him often doubt himself and create pressure on himself.
After many years of working in the entertainment industry, his insomnia has become increasingly serious, even at times he has to use sleeping pills to fall asleep. His body is tired but his mind still keeps thinking, the more he tries to control his emotions, the harder it is to truly relax.
Nicholas Tse's turning point started from the kitchen again. In 2012, during the most severe stage of insomnia, one night he accidentally watched a video tutorial on how to make a soufflé. This dessert, which was considered to be highly difficult, made him want to try it even more. He stepped into the kitchen and made it himself.
Nicholas Tse realizes that specific operations such as slicing vegetables, kneading flour, and making cakes help him focus on the immediate task, temporarily push away confused thoughts from his head and escape from the cycle of continuous thinking.
Also in that process, he gradually realized that constantly confronting anxiety does not necessarily solve the problem. What really helps him feel lighter lies in the two words "give up".
For him, letting go does not mean giving up pursuing goals, but no longer requiring himself to be perfect in everything, allowing himself to sometimes do not well and also allowing himself to stop.
Nicholas Tse said that when he no longer forces himself to meet a certain standard, he can focus more on what he really wants to do. It is worth mentioning that when he is no longer too strict with himself, his work also becomes more favorable.
In recent years, the male artist has reduced some commercial invitations to spend more time on music and the culinary field. In 2025, he returned to the stage after 20 years, organizing concerts with relatively minimalist staging but still receiving support from fans.
Meanwhile, his "Favour" brand has also been expanded from culinary programs to product development and supply chain operation.
Nicholas Tse also advised young people working in the entertainment industry, no matter how much they love their work, they should not constantly waste their health because of passion. For him, health still needs to be placed in an important position.
