The first empress of China
According to Sima Qian's "Historical Records", Empress Lu (241 - 180 BC) was the only Empress of Liu Bang, the founder of the Han Dynasty in Chinese history. Her real name is La Tri, from Dan Phu (now Thien district, Shandong province, China), 15 years younger than Liu Bang.
Lu Tri married Liu Bang when he was still the Head of the Family under Qin Shi Huang. Her father, La Van, met Liu Bang at a party and fell in love with him. He looked at his physiognomy and saw that Liu Bang would make a great career, so he married La Tri to Liu Bang.
During this time, she gave birth to Liu Bang a son and a daughter, later Han Hui Emperor Liu Ying and Princess Lu Yuan.
In 202 BC, Liu Bang joined forces with his vassals to defeat Xiang Yu and ascend to the throne . La Tri was appointed Queen, Liu Doanh was Crown Prince. She is the first official Empress of China since Qin Shi Huang unified the world and established the Empire in the Central Plains.
Holding the power of the Han Dynasty
After becoming Queen, La Tri was assigned by the Emperor with Prime Minister Tieu Ha and other mandarins to look after the court at Truong An.
The queen showed her wisdom and toughness, and established good relationships with court officials. Everyone both respected and feared the cruelty of her ruling behavior.
La Hau helped Han Cao To eliminate many officials to centralize power, including Han Tin and Peng Viet.
Later, the Emperor loved Lady Thich and wanted to make her son Nhu Y Crown Prince. Seeing this, Empress La plotted to help Liu Doanh build a siege and maintain his throne.
In 195 BC, Han Cao To died, Liu Ying ascended the throne, and Empress La became Empress Dowager. She intended to take revenge on Mrs. Thich and her child.
The Queen Mother imprisoned Lady Thich in Vinh Hang Palace and sent someone to call Trieu King Nhu Y back from the Trieu kingdom. Emperor Hue of Han loved his younger brother, so he went to pick up Nhu Y at Ba Thuong, with food, drinks, and walking to prevent any unexpected events. But in the end, Nhu Y was still given poison to die.
Helpless in the face of his biological mother's cruelty, the Emperor fell into alcoholism and fell ill, and Empress Dowager La took charge of the court.
In 188 BC, Emperor Hui of Han died at the age of 22. Queen Mother La cried but did not shed tears. According to "History", she killed a concubine who had just given birth to Emperor Hue's child, Mo Thi, then pretended to be the newly born Empress and established herself as the new Emperor, called Thieu Emperor of Han Tien.
Empress Dowager La still retains the title of Empress Dowager. She publicly posted to the court to replace the Emperor and take control of the court, called "Lam Trieu Trieu Che".
From then on, she became the first female head of an imperial government in Chinese history, openly holding power without regard for the Emperor. During this time, her manners were exactly the same as the Emperor, in all her decrees she called herself Tram.
Her reign is listed as a separate period in the history of the Han Dynasty, recorded as a Chronicle in Sima Qian's "Historical Records", which only records stories about the Emperors.
To consolidate power, Queen Mother La crowned her descendants of the La family. When Emperor Thieu began to understand, he was angry at Queen Mother La for killing her mother. Seeing this, Queen Mother La ordered people to imprison Thieu Emperor in Vinh Hang palace, saying that the Emperor was sick and could not meet outsiders.
No one dared to stop her. Empress Dowager La immediately killed Emperor Thieu and established another son of Emperor Hue, Thuong Son Vuong Liu Nghia, as Emperor, changing his name to Liu Hong. Empress Dowager La continued to rule the court.
In 180 BC, Empress Dowager La passed away at the age of 61 years old. The ending of "Empress La Ban Si" in "Historical Records" notes: "Although Empress La's reign did upset the Han court and killed Han princes, it did not disturb social life, at least Using punishment on the people, the people will be at peace, the people will be able to farm and have enough food and clothing.
