Show 2 is a continuation of the idea of Show - the exhibition that started for VCCA (June 6, 2017), with the desire to spread contemporary art to the general public. The exhibition honors 34 works from many diverse genres from realism, expression, abstract to installation... jointly chosen by curator Mizuki Endo and artist Pham An Hai - the founder of the Viet Art Now group of young artists.
In addition to works by 10 young artists, Nguyen Nghia Cuong, Ha Phuoc Duy, Ta Minh Duc, Pham Ha Hai, Trieu Minh Hai, Le Phi Long, Nguyen Duc Phuong, Vu Duc Trung, Luong Trung, Vu Ngoc Vinh, two artists from the previous generation Pham An Hai and Pham Binh Chuong brought 2 works to the exhibition as a companion, a continuation between generations in the flow of contemporary art.
Show 2 marks the return of Show with the core spirit of bringing aesthetic dialogues; opening up space for interaction between personal viewpoints and social stories; being a open playground for diverse variations of art. Moreover, Show 2 expands space for innovative and diverse forms of expression: self-question, exploration, and intersection of sharing between artists as well as artists with the audience. The interaction between the work and the typical architecture of the exhibition space creates presentations and arrangements that can only be seen in VCCA.
VCCA's Art Director Mizuki Endo shared: "This is also a renovation of VCCA itself when it wants to change the inherent exhibition styles. This exhibition will become a new sharing model, gathering in-depth knowledge about aesthete subjects, creating meaningful differences and opposites.
After 1 year of operation, VCCA has affirmed its reputation with experts and its position in the public's heart. With international scale and standards, the center will continue to innovate its activities, contributing to the formation and sustainable development of modern art and culture in the country; at the same time, creating a bridge for Vietnamese artists to proactively participate in the regional and world art markets.
The exhibition is open free of charge until July 15, 2018 at Vincom Contemporary Arts Center (VCCA) at B1 - R3, Vincom Mega Mall Royal City (72A Nguyen Trai, Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi). Within the framework of the exhibition, VCCA will organize three artistic seminars with 10 authors on June 16, June 30, and July 14 along with minishow and workshop activities. The detailed program will be updated on the center's website and official fanpage.
