Long Thanh airport passenger terminal is 20 days ahead of schedule

Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) and joint venture contractors are implementing the construction of the two largest packages at the Long Thanh airport project (Binh Son commune, Long Thanh district) including: Package 5.10 - Construction construction of Long Thanh airport passenger terminal (total investment of 35,000 billion VND) and package 4.6 - Construction and installation of equipment for runways, taxiways, and aircraft aprons (with a total cost of investment of more than 8,100 billion VND).

These two bidding packages will start construction on August 31, 2023.

In particular, package 5.10 - Construction of Long Thanh airport passenger terminal, constructed by the VIETUR joint venture, is considered the "heart" and progress critical path of Long Thanh airport phase 1. As for package 4.6 - Construction of the runway is an important part of the project, directly related to safe flight operations.

According to ACV, package 5.10 includes construction items for the passenger terminal (central terminal and three wings), structure of 1 ground floor and 3 floors, roof peak height of 45.55m, the station is designed with Two separate departure and arrival elevations, total floor area is about 376,451 m2. Arrange 40 close parking positions for Code C, E and F aircraft.

This is a large-scale item with high technical nature, the construction progress determines the overall progress critical path of the entire project.

To date, the contractor has mobilized nearly 2,400 personnel and more than 1,500 pieces of machinery and equipment. The passenger terminal construction volume has so far completed all reinforced concrete columns and floor beams on the 1st and 2nd floors and is continuing to carry out reinforced concrete construction of floor beams on the 3rd and 4th floors.

Construction of the entire reinforced concrete structure is expected to be completed in August-September 2024, to begin erecting the roof steel structure. The estimated construction progress is 20 days ahead of the rough progress and 10 days ahead of the overall package progress compared to the contract schedule.

The takeoff and landing runway at Long Thanh airport is 2 months ahead of schedule

For package 4.6, including runway items measuring 4000 x 45 m; taxiway, connecting taxiway, quick exit taxiway (total area about 69.3 hectares); aircraft apron (total area about 47.9 hectares); Parking area for ground service vehicles (about 12.4 hectares) with contract value of 7,244 billion VND.

To date, ACV has completed a 3,800/4,000m (about 171,000 m2) cement concrete layer on the runway.

The runway project has exceeded the contract schedule by 2 months.

The precision landing support equipment produced at the factory at the end of January 2024 will be shipped to Vietnam in October 2024 and expected to be installed in December 2024.

With this progress, ACV is determined to direct construction units to complete the runway before April 30, 2025, 3 months ahead of the contract schedule.
