On February 24, the Quang Tri Provincial Department of Health held a ceremony to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Vietnam Doctors' Day on February 27 (1955 - 2025) and the Patriotic Emulation Congress of the Quang Tri Health Sector for the period 2025 - 2030.
In July 1989, the Quang Tri Department of Health was re-established with 15 affiliated units including 1,100 cadres, doctors, and medical staff. After 35 years of establishment and development, the Quang Tri health sector has made great strides to comprehensively change.
In the past 5 years, on the basis of streamlining the apparatus, the health sector has rearranged provincial health units, upgraded district health centers to effectively perform the functions of preventive medicine, medical examination and treatment, rehabilitation and management of the operations of commune, ward and town health stations in the district...
Up to now, health indicators in the area continue to have positive upgrades: The total number of hospital beds reached over 2,450 beds; the doctor index reached 11.3 doctors/10,000 people, the average life expectancy of people reached 71.5 years old; 100% of communes, wards and towns have health stations; the whole province has 123/125 communes meeting national criteria on health. The rate of universal health insurance coverage reached over 95%.
Speaking at the ceremony, Acting Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tri province Ha Sy Dong suggested that in the coming time, the emulation movement of the health sector needs to continue to innovate, have clear goals, truly become a driving force for each individual and unit, mobilize the combined strength of the political system, the support of the People to contribute to the overall achievements of the entire sector as well as spread the image of "Doctors like good mothers" in society.
The Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also expressed his confidence that the Patriotic Emulation Congress of the Health Sector will continue to provide motivation for the emulation movements of the Health Sector to spread more widely throughout the entire sector and the whole society, contributing to the cause of caring for and protecting people's health to continue to make faster and more steady progress.
At the ceremony, Acting Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Sy Dong province presented the Emulation Flag of 2024 of the Provincial People's Committee to the Department of Health; 5 individuals were awarded the title of "Excellent Doctor" by the President, including: Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Health of Quang Tri province; Mr. Lam Chi Duc, former Director of Huong Hoa District Medical Center; Mr. Vo Huu Hanh, Head of the Organization - Administration Department, Trieu Hai Regional General Hospital; Mr. Phan Van Khanh, Head of the Pharmaceutical Department, Provincial Department of Health; Ms. Le Thi Lieu, Director of the Traditional Medicine and Rehabilitation Hospital.
