According to initial information, in the afternoon of May 22, Nguyen Thi Quynh Nhu (born in 2015) drove an electric motorbike carrying Nguyen Quang Quy (born in 2013) and Nguyen Tuan Hung (born in 2015), both residing in hamlet 2, Minh Trung village, to the Tra Khuc river area in hamlet 4, Minh Khanh village to swim in the river. While playing in the water, all 3 children were unfortunately swept away by the water and went missing.
Immediately after receiving the news, local authorities mobilized police, militia and a large number of people to organize night-long searches along the area where the incident occurred.
At about 6 am on May 23, the search force discovered the bodies of Nguyen Thi Quynh Nhu in hamlet 2, Minh Thanh village and Nguyen Quang Quy in hamlet 4, Minh Khanh village. After many hours of searching efforts, at about 8:45 am on the same day, Nguyen Tuan Hung's body was also found.
Mr. Tran Cong Thanh, Secretary of the Party Committee of Truong Giang commune, said that the local government is coordinating with the family to organize the funeral for the victims; at the same time, functional agencies continue to verify and clarify the cause of the incident.
