Miracle in the first 6 months of the year
On the afternoon of July 14, discussing in groups about the socio-economic situation in the first 6 months of the year and tasks for the last 6 months of the year, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Vu Dai Thang said that the city has made "extremely fundamental" changes in the approach, coordination of implementation and management.
Accordingly, many long-standing problems have been resolved on the basis of the city proactively supporting infrastructure investment and quickly handling problems.
The city's suspended projects have existed for 5 or 10 years, but Hanoi has implemented them decisively. Those projects have entered the investment orbit" - Mr. Thang said.
According to the Chairman of the City People's Committee, this result was achieved thanks to the "relentless, forgetful of eating and sleeping" working spirit of all levels and sectors.
Mr. Thang said that many projects dismantled in the past 6 months have begun to be built on a large scale. If previously, from the time the idea was formed until the construction site was available, it usually took 5-7 years, even decades, now the progress has been significantly shortened.
That is our miracle in the past 6 months" - Mr. Vu Dai Thang said.
In the last 6 months of the year, a series of large projects will continue to be implemented, including key transportation projects, connecting roads, urban infrastructure systems and many new development projects.
Regarding the ring roads, the Hong River overpass, Ring Road 3.5 and many other infrastructure projects, the Chairman of the City People's Committee said that the investment preparation and site clearance phase has basically been completed, entering the construction and installation phase. Contractors have mobilized sufficient manpower, equipment, and materials to deploy, including complex technical items such as tunnel construction and large-scale traffic projects.
Strong implementation phase in the second half of the year
One of the fields that the Chairman of the City People's Committee assessed as contributing greatly to growth is housing development, especially social housing. Since the beginning of the year, the city has approved the policy of investing in nearly 60 social housing projects with a scale of over 100,000 apartments.
According to calculations by the construction industry, the construction volume of social housing and commercial housing projects in the last 6 months of the year alone will increase by about 75% compared to the first 6 months of the year, creating a large source of jobs for the construction industry and directly contributing to GRDP growth.
In addition to the housing sector, industrial parks and large investment projects will also enter a strong implementation phase in the second half of the year, contributing to creating more momentum for economic growth.
When all factors from the new institution, administrative procedure reform, progress of infrastructure projects, social housing, industrial parks and large investment projects are combined, we believe that the growth target for 2026 is feasible and completely grounded for implementation" - Chairman of the City People's Committee Vu Dai Thang affirmed.
Resolving existing problems in service land and population expansion land
Regarding service land and population expansion land - a content that many delegates are interested in, the Chairman of the City People's Committee affirmed that as soon as the Capital Law took effect, the city focused on building mechanisms to handle long-standing problems.
For service land, the city has submitted to the City People's Council for promulgation a resolution to resolve about 22,000 cases in the short term. All data is compiled based on reports from previous districts and current communes and wards.
After verification, localities continue to review and a number of new cases arise. The Chairman of the City People's Committee affirmed that the city will continue to summarize for handling, but initially proposed that the City People's Council pass a resolution to immediately resolve cases that have met the conditions.
The arising part will continue to be supplemented, not to make people wait" - Mr. Thang said.
