Close-up of the foul-smelling ditch discharging directly into Ha Long Bay in Bai Chay

Quang Ninh - After a period of "silentness", the ditch leading rainwater and domestic wastewater to Ha Long Bay is polluted again. The whole ditch is black and smelly.

The ditch in neighborhood 5B, Bai Chay ward is one of the drainage gates of surrounding residential areas to Ha Long Bay.

In recent days, this ditch has changed color, turning black and smelly. Even when the tide rises, the entire hundreds of meters long ditch turns black to the edge of the coast and only fades when it has merged with seawater.

This is not the first time this ditch has transported a heavily polluted wastewater source directly into Ha Long Bay. However, so far there has been no solution to overcome it, causing the water along the coast of Ha Long Bay to become increasingly polluted.
