Dong Nai - The two routes connecting the expressways to Ho Chi Minh City are sprinting when Long Thanh airport is put into operation in 2026.

Currently, the Long Thanh airport project is being accelerated to put into commercial operation in the first half of 2026. Therefore, the traffic routes connecting Long Thanh airport with Ho Chi Minh City are being focused on, especially the December 6 package to construct two routes T1 and T2 connecting Long Thanh airport with the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway.

According to Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), currently, all packages of the Long Thanh airport project are being constructed simultaneously by ACV on the entire construction site in accordance with the spirit of "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain, not losing to the wind and storm", "3 shifts, 4 teams", constructing "going through holidays, Tet, through holidays" of the Prime Minister.

The contractor consortia have mobilized hundreds of construction teams, nearly 13,000 experts, engineers, workers, laborers and about 3,000 construction equipment to speed up the progress with the goal of basically completing the project by the end of 2025, putting it into operation and commercial exploitation in the first half of 2026.

According to ACV, due to the rainy season coming about a month earlier than expected, with continuous heavy rain affecting construction work, especially underground works such as tuyel, drainage system, roadbed, etc., ACV has directed contractors to proactively adjust plans and construction measures accordingly to speed up project progress, recover the delayed progress, and strive to complete the project on schedule.

For package 6.12 (construction of a traffic system connecting route 1 and route 2), the contractor is a consortium of Deo Ca Group Joint Stock Company, the package is worth VND2,630 billion.

The consortium of contractors is simultaneously implementing construction phases, up to now, route 1 and the National Highway 51 intersection have been technically opened to traffic on April 30, 2025, completing acceptance and putting them into use in September 2025 (3 months shorter than the contract).

For route 2, the foundation items, road foundations, and intersections have been basically completed, and the asphalt concrete road surface items are currently under construction, expected to be completed and opened to traffic before September 2, 2025.
