On August 3, according to information from Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM): After 3 consecutive days of flight, the flight crew has completed all flight method assessments according to PBN (Performance-Based Navigation) at Long Thanh International Airport (abbreviated as Long Thanh Airport).
The aircraft serving the inspection flight is the Beechcraft King Air 350ER.
This is an important step to realize the operation of the national key project of Long Thanh airport on schedule, ensuring operational efficiency right from the first day of operation.
According to the licensed plan, flights depart from Tan Son Nhat airport, conduct assessments at Long Thanh airspace and then return to Tan Son Nhat to land.
Previously, on August 2, at a working session with the Government working group at the Long Thanh airport project, VATM representative said that regarding the construction progress of the Long Thanh Air Traffic Control Station, the project had completed the roofing.
All auxiliary items such as radar stations, approach points, meteorological monitoring systems, etc. are expected to be basically completed before the end of September 2025; Specialized equipment will be installed and completed in December 2025.
Regarding flight validation and assessment, from July 31 to August 2, 2025, VATM will coordinate with relevant parties to deploy flight assessment and testing for 68 flight methods (including 27 SIDs, 33 STARs, 8 IAPs).
Initial results show that the aircraft is capable of taking off and landing safely in Long Thanh, the collected data will be used for the next standard flights in October and will be officially operational from 2026.
On July 31, VATM also announced the decision to appoint key staff to the Long Thanh Air Traffic Control Center; Closely coordinate with the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to complete the dossier for granting a license to operate Long Thanh Air Traffic Control Station, as well as a license for related airline personnel.
