During the holidays, traffic pressure on highways increases significantly, especially on the connecting axes from Hanoi Capital to provinces and cities. The volume of vehicles increases rapidly due to people's demand for going home and traveling, causing dense traffic density, posing a potential risk of congestion and unsafety.
Faced with that situation, the Traffic Police force increased duty, strictly controlled violations, and proactively deployed traffic diversion plans to ensure smooth and safe traffic.
On the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway, Highway Patrol and Control Team No. 1 (Traffic Police Department, Ministry of Public Security) promotes inspection of passenger transport vehicles, resolutely handling acts of illegal stopping, parking, picking up and dropping off passengers. Along with handling violations, functional forces directly remind drivers to comply with regulations on alcohol concentration and not use phones while driving.
Captain Phan Thanh Nam - Highway Patrol and Control Team No. 1 said that the unit has closely coordinated with forces on the route, arranged specialized vehicles, ready to approach and quickly handle arising incidents.
It is forecasted that from the afternoon of May 2nd, the number of vehicles will increase sharply, especially on the Phap Van - Cau Gie and Noi Bai - Lao Cai routes. Traffic police and operating units will maintain 24/24 hour duty at points at high risk of congestion.
Major Nguyen Quang Ngoc - Highway Traffic Police Team No. 3 recommends that vehicle drivers pay attention to observation, maintain a safe distance, and limit sudden lane changes. When encountering problems, drivers need to quickly bring their vehicles close to the roadside, place warning signs 100 - 150 m away from the vehicle to ensure safety.
In order to limit local congestion, remote traffic diversion plans have been prepared. On the Phap Van - Cao Bo - Mai Son - National Highway 45 expressway, when the number of vehicles increases sharply, vehicles will be regulated through service road intersections to National Highway 1A, National Highway 45 and National Highway 47.
At the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway, if congestion occurs at the gateway area of Hanoi, functional forces will temporarily close the entrance and divert vehicles in the direction of National Highway 2.
