Explaining this adjustment, the Vietnam Road Administration said that on September 1, 2021, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1454/QD-TTg approving the Road Network Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, vision to 2050.
After that, the Politburo and the National Assembly continued to pass a series of resolutions on socio-economic development directions and ensuring national defense and security of 6 socio-economic regions and localities; National master plan for the period 2021 - 2030, vision to 2050; The Prime Minister's approval of national sector plans and provincial/city plans has impacted road network planning.
Based on political and legal grounds, this leads to the need to adjust road network planning. Including the decision to adjust the investment process for the Bac Kan - Cao Bang expressway before 2030 compared to the original planning.
The entire Bac Kan - Cao Bang expressway will have a length of about 90km, divided into 2 component projects, the starting point in Bac Kan city, the ending point in Cao Bang city.
The section through Bac Kan province (60km) is organized and implemented by Bac Kan province; The section through Cao Bang province (29.2km, through 3 districts: Hoa An, Thach An and City) is organized and implemented by Cao Bang province. The end point of the expressway will connect to Vo Nguyen Giap street in De Tham ward (Cao Bang city).
The project has a scale of 4 lanes, 80km/h for dangerous and steep mountain passes and 100km/h for sections with favorable terrain. Total project investment through Cao Bang province is over 13,300 billion VND.
Mr. Hoang Xuan Anh - Chairman of Cao Bang Provincial People's Committee - said: "The investment project to build the Bac Kan - Cao Bang expressway has important and urgent significance. This will be a vital route, increasing the capacity traffic connectivity between the Northern Midlands and Mountainous provinces, in accordance with the National Transport Planning".
The Cao Bang - Bac Kan Expressway also helps connect with the Dong Dang - Tra Linh Expressway, creating a corridor for economic development in the Northern Midlands and Mountains provinces, towards comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and China.
It is known that this expressway project belongs to the group of important national transportation projects, implemented according to the Law on Public Investment from the central budget and local budget, with implementation period from 2024 - 2028.
On August 23, talking to reporters, Mr. Le Van Hoang (passenger bus driver on the Cao Bang - Hanoi route) - shared: "I hope the expressway will start construction soon, because when the road is made wider, the alignment will be straightened to reduce the gradient. winding uphill passes, drivers and passengers will have less trouble.
The Thai Nguyen - Hanoi expressway has been free for a long time, so if the Cao Bang - Bac Kan expressway is completed soon, the number of vehicles passing through this route will definitely increase".
