On the evening of December 30, the Project Management Board (PMB) of My Thuan (Ministry of Construction) announced the adjustment of the time to put into operation the component project section Hau Giang - Ca Mau, belonging to the North-South Expressway Project in the East.
According to the My Thuan Project Management Board, the Hau Giang - Ca Mau expressway section was technically opened to traffic on December 19 and was initially expected to be put into operation from 9 am on December 31, 2025.

However, after the technical opening ceremony, the project area has continuously experienced prolonged heavy rain, affecting the construction process and completion of the remaining items. In addition, the investor is focusing on completing traffic safety items to fully meet safe operation conditions.
My Thuan Project Management Board said that the project will be completed and put into operation in January 2026, the specific time will be announced later.

The Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway project has a main route length of more than 110 km and a connecting route of 25.85km, passing through the provinces of An Giang, Ca Mau and Can Tho City, invested by My Thuan Project Management Board.
The project is divided into two component projects including: Can Tho - Hau Giang section and Hau Giang - Ca Mau section, with a total investment of more than 27,500 billion VND, started on January 1, 2023.
The Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway, when completed and put into operation, the entire route is not just a simple traffic route but also a strategic connecting axis, helping Ca Mau province connect with major economic centers such as Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh City and the entire Mekong Delta region.
