Hanoi - According to the People's Committee of Dong Anh district, the construction of Tu Lien bridge and the roads at both ends of the bridge is the desire of the people and local authorities.

Promoting the development of the potential Eastern region

On October 24, in an interview with Lao Dong Newspaper, the People's Committee of Dong Anh district (Hanoi) said that in order to promote the urbanization process of the area and reduce traffic pressure in the city center, the investment in the project to build Tu Lien bridge and the Tu Lien bridge approach road to connect the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen expressway is extremely necessary and in line with the development policies and orientations of the country as well as the capital Hanoi in particular and the Northern key economic region in general.

Tu Lien Bridge is planned as part of the main road TC17, the axis Tu Lien - Co Loa - Ring Road 3 is in the transportation planning of Hanoi City to 2030 and vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister.

The route follows the planned route No. 5 north of the Red River, starting from Tu Lien Bridge and Co Loa Commune to the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen Expressway. This is a new route with a cross-section size of 10 lanes and a cross-section width of 60m.

After completion, Tu Lien Bridge will connect with the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen expressway to the center of Hanoi City, and gradually complete the traffic connection system north of the Red River, supporting and developing the economy of the central urban area of Hanoi City.

"For Dong Anh district, the project aims to complete the transport infrastructure system in the district, serve the travel needs of the people, increase the land value on both sides of the road, create conditions for effective exploitation of existing land funds, and accelerate the urbanization process.

The project has great significance in connecting urban areas and industrial parks in Dong Anh district to the center of Hanoi and industrial centers and large cities in the North. In terms of socio-economics, the completed route will bring a new look, promoting the development of the potential eastern area of Dong Anh district" - said the People's Committee of Dong Anh district.

Dong Anh is ready to implement the connecting route.

According to the People's Committee of Dong Anh district, the construction of Tu Lien bridge and the roads at both ends of the bridge is the desire of the people and the government of Dong Anh district.

On October 3, the People's Committee of Dong Anh district issued Document No. 251/TTr-UBND on assigning the task of establishing an investment policy for the urban main road construction project (TC17) from Truong Sa street to Hanoi - Thai Nguyen highway, in which it proposed to use the City budget and part of the Dong Anh district budget.

On October 11, the Hanoi People's Committee issued Decision No. 5333/QD-UBND, assigning the Department of Transport to prepare a Pre-Feasibility Study Report for the Investment Project to build Tu Lien Bridge and the road from Tu Lien Bridge to Hanoi - Thai Nguyen Expressway and assigning the Dong Anh District People's Committee to study and propose a plan to use the district budget to match the investment in the road section from Truong Sa Road to Hanoi - Thai Nguyen Expressway.

Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper had a series of articles "Red River overpasses are struggling due to overload" which pointed out the "alarming" situation when many Red River overpasses are often overloaded, with traffic volume many times higher than designed.

Meanwhile, new bridge projects such as Tu Lien Bridge and Tran Hung Dao Bridge still have no clear information about the implementation time.

In the article "Tu Lien Bridge has not been scheduled for construction for nearly a decade", answering a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, an expert in the field of construction and traffic project management said that the delay in building new bridges across the Red River will lead to areas with potential for development being held back. As for areas that have already developed, it will create huge traffic pressure on existing bridges.
