On April 17, information from Traffic Police Team No. 2 (Traffic Police Department) in coordination with the Traffic Police Department of Khanh Hoa Provincial Police said that it had issued a decision to administratively fine driver N.M. B (born in 1994, residing in Khanh Hoa) for the act of not complying with railway traffic signals.
Previously, at about 4 pm on April 14, at the level crossing Km 1369+421 (Hoa Son village, Nam Cam Ranh commune, Khanh Hoa province), N.M. B driving a container truck with license plate 50E-541. XX did not comply with railway traffic signals, intentionally overtaking while staff were operating to close the barrier.
As a result, the vehicle collided strongly, breaking the barrier. Fortunately, the incident did not cause any casualties, but damaged the railway industry's property and directly threatened train safety.
Functional agencies have administratively fined N.M. B 5 million VND, and revoked his driver's license for 2 months. In addition to the fine according to regulations, the driver must also compensate for property damage caused by the violation.
The entire violation was recorded by the surveillance camera system of Phu Khanh Railway Joint Stock Company. From this data, functional forces quickly tracked down the related vehicle.
According to Phu Khanh Railway Joint Stock Company, the railway line through Khanh Hoa is about 210km long, with more than 200 intersections with roads, of which more than 100 self-opened paths pose many potential safety risks.
Over the past time, the Railway industry has coordinated with the Traffic Police force to strengthen patrols, inspections and apply technology to detect violations.
In March alone, 178 violations related to railways were recorded, with a total fine of more than 100 million VND. From the beginning of April to now, 89 cases have continued to be handled, with a total fine of about 60 million VND.
The main violations include: running red lights when trains are about to arrive, intentionally overtaking when the barrier is lowering, stopping and parking in the railway safety corridor, and even in some cases damaging the barrier equipment.
Notably, handling violations through images from surveillance cameras is showing clear effectiveness. Images fully recording the time and license plates help increase objectivity and limit the situation of avoiding functional forces.
Functional agencies said that they will continue to expand supervision, strengthen the installation of signs, traffic lights, and barriers at dangerous intersections, and at the same time promote propaganda to raise people's awareness.
The Government has issued Decree 81/2026/ND-CP (effective from May 15, 2026), which sharply increases penalties for railway traffic violations.
The maximum fine is up to 75 million VND for individuals and 150 million VND for organizations, accompanied by additional penalties such as revocation of licenses or suspension of operations.
