There are moments in journalism that will follow the writer throughout his career journey. It's not just when an article is well received by readers, a practical recommendation is listened to, or a social issue creates a spreading effect. For us, it's also the moment when the name of Lao Dong Newspaper and its beloved colleagues is announced at the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award, National Press Award and many other prestigious press awards.
In that moment, what appeared first was not the name of the individual or group of authors on the certificate, but the logo of Lao Dong Newspaper behind the stage and the image of colleagues watching in common joy. We understand that the reward first of all belongs to the collective - those who have persistently preserved the tradition of nearly a century of a newspaper always accompanying the country, the same class of workers and laborers.
Behind a series of articles in newspapers that are well received is a long period of time for research, searching for materials, meeting experts, dialogue and reflection on reality. And the series "Relying on the people to build the Party and political system" (a group of authors Hoang Lam, Tran Van Vuong) - winning the A prize, the 10th Golden Hammer and Sickle Award in 2025 (awarded on the occasion of the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam 3-2 2026) is one of the results of that labor process, under the direction and guidance of the Editorial Board and leaders of Lao Dong Newspaper.
What motivates us to pursue the article is not only the stature of the 14th National Party Congress, but also because this is an opportunity to clearly feel the ideology "The people are the root" being realized by a specific political action: Announcing draft documents of the Congress to widely solicit opinions from the people. It is not simply a process of collecting opinions. It is a vivid manifestation of socialist democracy; it is proof of the Party's belief in the intelligence, responsibility and right to mastery of the people in planning strategic decisions that determine the future of the country.
From the direction of the Editorial Board of Lao Dong Newspaper, the series of articles is deployed according to the flow from events to theory, from practice to in-depth exchanges with scientists. What the work wants to express is not only to reflect a political event, but more importantly to convey the breath of the ideology "People are the root" in today's life, so that theoretical issues become close, accessible and persuasive to readers.
Another journey, with no less pressure, is the series of articles "Digital transformation in innovation of Party leadership methods" by the group of authors Nguyen Cam Van, Tran Van Vuong, Le Trung Kien, Nguyen Van Phuong, Nguyen Van Thang, winning the B Prize, the 20th National Press Award.
Digital transformation is a topic that is mentioned a lot, but digital transformation in the Party's leadership method is an issue that is both deeply theoretical and requires an explanation in modern journalistic language. How to affirm that innovating the leadership method is not changing the nature of the Party's leadership, but perfecting the leadership method to suit the development requirements of the digital age? How to refute the distorted arguments, taking advantage of digital transformation to deny the Party's leadership role?
Those are also the concerns that the Editorial Board and leaders of Lao Dong Newspaper have set for the group of authors. Each article is the result of the connection process between journalistic thinking and scientific depth; between theory and practice; between the aspiration for innovation and the requirement to maintain the ideological foundation of the Party.
Glory is written from the strength of a collective
When journalistic works are honored, what we feel most deeply is not the cup or certificate. What remains is gratitude.
Journalism is not originally a journey of lone individuals. A work may be named after a few authors, but behind it is always the intelligence of a whole editorial office. Behind each work is the companionship of a whole collective - from the Editorial Board, leaders of Lao Dong Newspaper with strategic orientations, unit management leaders, experts, scientists, associates to editors persistently exchanging every detail, technical department, design, multimedia to colleagues willing to share materials, exchange, and contribute ideas; Those are times of correcting every small detail so that each word is persuasive enough for readers. Without a link in that chain, it is very difficult to create a truly valuable work.
Perhaps because of this, every time I step onto the stage to receive an award, the greatest pride is not that my name is announced, but to witness the name "Lao Dong Newspaper" echoing among the prestigious press awards of the country. That is the pride of a newspaper that has been around for nearly a century, always maintaining its principles and purposes, always steadfast in its mission to serve the Fatherland, serve the people and accompany major issues of the country.
As the leader of Lao Dong Newspaper always reminds, today's journalism is changing day by day. Digital technology, artificial intelligence, big data are creating new working methods. But no matter how developed technology is, what makes the value of a journalistic work is still thinking, political bravery, professional ethics and a heart always directed towards the people.
Technology can support journalists in processing data, but cannot replace dedication. Artificial intelligence can create information, but cannot replace social responsibility. Continue to innovate so that each journalistic work not only fulfills its information mission, but also contributes to strengthening trust, spreading good values and arousing aspirations for national development. That is also the concretization of President Ho Chi Minh's beloved teaching to revolutionary journalists: "The mission of journalism is to serve the people, to serve the revolution".
