Implementing the 500 days and nights Campaign to promote the search, repatriation and identification of martyrs' remains, at many martyrs' cemeteries in An Giang province, biological sample collection is being implemented with high intensity. To date, 11/20 cemeteries have completed biological sample collection, 8,525 graves have been sampled, of which 1,133 samples have been handed over to functional agencies for testing and DNA comparison.
In parallel with the task of taking biological samples at cemeteries, officers and soldiers of Team K92 and Team K93, An Giang Provincial Military Command, continue to stick to the area, survey, verify information, search for and repatriate martyrs' remains. The work is increasingly difficult as terrain and artifacts in many places change, direct witnesses are getting older, and much information about burial places is only left in memory. Some areas have to be surveyed many times, digging dozens of holes, peeling off each layer of soil to verify the source of information.
As of September 23, Team K92, Team K93, Provincial Military Command have searched and collected 281 sets of martyrs' remains, including 154 sets of martyrs' remains in Cambodia and 127 sets of martyrs' remains in the country. Despite difficult weather conditions, the teams still made every effort to overcome difficulties to perform their duties in Cambodia.
Regardless of holidays or Saturdays or Sundays, officers and soldiers of the 2 Teams still take advantage of time to carry out many practical activities in the deployment area in Cambodia.
At the place where Team K93 performed its duties, working groups spread out to survey the field, meet with people, collect and verify information related to areas where there may still be martyrs' remains.
Along with the search task, officers and soldiers also organize medical examinations, health consultations and free medicine distribution for people living around the unit. Sincere greetings and meaningful pills contribute to fostering the military-civilian relationship.
Colonel Nguyen Viet Thang, Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command, Deputy Head of Steering Committee 515 of An Giang province, said that the Party Committee and Provincial Military Command determined that this is not only an important political task, associated with the 500-day and night Campaign, but also a work of profound humanitarian significance, expressing the morality of "When drinking water, remember the source", "Gratitude", gratitude and responsibility of today's generation towards those who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
The Party Committee and the Provincial Military Command regularly pay attention to and encourage officers and soldiers who directly perform tasks, promptly share difficulties and hardships, and at the same time thoroughly grasp the spirit of responsibility, determination to overcome difficulties, race against time, but absolutely do not affect the quality and accuracy of each task for the sake of progress.
For each officer and soldier directly contributing to this special campaign, it is both a responsibility and an honor and pride; because behind each found grave, each sample of biological products taken is another opportunity to identify the identity, return the name to the martyr, contributing to meeting the long-awaited aspirations of hundreds of thousands of relatives and families of martyrs day and night.
