Traffic jam all day, regardless of peak or off-peak hours
Nguyen Xien, Khuat Duy Tien, Nguyen Trai (Thanh Xuan district), Lang, Nguyen Ngoc Vu, Xuan Thuy (Cau Giay district)... and many other roads in Hanoi are experiencing serious traffic jams, even on weekends.
Mr. Nguyen Chien Thang (Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi) was impatient when he was "stuck" on Khuat Duy Tien Street for nearly 30 minutes due to traffic jams on the weekend. At each intersection, it took Mr. Thang 2-3 traffic lights to get through.
"I went from my house to Linh Dam area for some work, but I don't understand why there is so much traffic on the weekend. Khuat Duy Tien Street is notoriously congested, before the traffic overflowed onto the sidewalk, now it's a bit better, but the traffic jam below is still the same," Thang shared.
It is predicted that the closer to Tet, the more crowded the streets will be, not to mention the situation of vendors selling peach and kumquat trees... occupying the sidewalks and roadsides, causing traffic congestion.
Determine that every hour is rush hour
Anticipating that the traffic situation will be complicated near Tet, the Traffic Police Department (Traffic Police, Hanoi City Police) has directed local traffic police teams to arrange permanent forces on the roads, focusing on regulating traffic flows, ensuring people's movement is smooth and safe.
On the morning of January 12, on Ring Road 2, although it was Sunday, the number of vehicles participating in traffic was still very high. Road Traffic Police Team No. 3 (Hanoi Traffic Police Department) arranged forces to be on duty to regulate traffic from early morning.
At Nga Tu So, traffic police continuously command and guide vehicles to reduce pressure at intersections.
In Lang - Yen Lang and Lang - Lang Ha, traffic police were also increased to direct and regulate traffic.
“People not only go to work but also take advantage of the afternoon and evening to take care of work and shop for Tet. During this time, officers and soldiers consider every day a working day, every hour is rush hour,” shared Captain Nguyen Van Long, an officer of Traffic Police Team No. 3.
Traffic police not only have to regulate traffic during the morning and afternoon rush hours, but these days, the rush hour also occurs during lunchtime. Work pressure therefore increases, as they have to be on duty and constantly change traffic flow plans to prevent congestion.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Dang Hong Giang - Captain of Traffic Police Team No. 3, Ring Road 2 is a closed inner-city traffic route of Hanoi, on normal days there is a high density of vehicles, sometimes even overloaded with traffic.
As the days near Tet holiday approach, when people's travel, commuting, and shopping needs increase, the traffic density on this route becomes even greater, many times higher than normal.
Therefore, the unit has developed plans early, coordinated with other forces to regulate at hot spots, ensure smooth traffic, and best serve the travel needs of the people.
The roads are crowded, but if there is regulation by the traffic police, people will feel more secure and traffic jams will be quickly resolved.
Authorities also recommend that people participating in traffic absolutely strictly comply with traffic safety laws, pay attention to signs and traffic lights, and especially follow the instructions of authorities when incidents or traffic jams occur on the road.
