On March 3, Mr. Lu Van Hung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee - directly inspected the locations for the Vietnam - Bac Lieu Salt Industry Festival 2025.
After inspecting the Festival locations in Dong Hai district, Bac Lieu city, Bac Lieu Provincial Party Secretary Lu Van Hung highly appreciated the units implementing their projects and work.
The Secretary of the Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee noted: During the Vietnam - Bac Lieu Salt Craft Festival in 2025, at the three-way and four-way intersections of Dong Hai district, signs must be placed to guide the way to the event venue. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure good security and order, smooth traffic to create convenience and a beautiful impression in the eyes of visitors attending the event".
The 2025 Vietnam - Bac Lieu Salt Festival officially took place in Bac Lieu province from March 6 to March 8 at two main locations, Bac Lieu city and Dong Hai district.
The opening ceremony of the Vietnam - Bac Lieu Salt Craft Festival will take place at 8:00 p.m. on March 6 at Hung Vuong Square (Ward 1, Bac Lieu City).
This is an opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge in the production, trading and processing of salt products and OCOP products between localities across the country.
Along with that is to strengthen the connection and cooperation between salt production, processing and trading actors within the salt industry and with other fields such as tourism, healthcare, cuisine; at the same time, promote the historical, cultural values and heritage of the salt industry in Bac Lieu and participating localities.
With nearly 1,500 hectares, Bac Lieu is one of the localities with a large salt production area in the country. The total number of salt production households in 2024 in the province is 777 households, with more than 800 workers.
In 2024, the traditional salt making profession in Bac Lieu province will have favorable conditions, with the salt output of Bac Lieu province reaching over 76,000 tons (Dong Hai district over 67,000 tons and Hoa Binh district over 9,000 tons), exceeding the plan by more than 300%, an increase of nearly 50,000 tons compared to the 2022 - 2023 crop.
In 2020, the salt making profession in Bac Lieu was recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
