On May 5, at the Hanoi City Police (CATP) headquarters, Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung, Director of Hanoi City Police, chaired the April 2026 handover meeting.
At the Conference, Senior Lieutenant Colonel Bui Nhat Quang, Head of the City Police Staff Department, briefly reported on the situation and results of police work in April and key tasks for May 2026 of Hanoi City Police.
Accordingly, in April 2026, the Board of Directors of the City Police Department focused on leading and directing units to drastically and comprehensively deploy all aspects of police work; absolutely protected the security and safety of 293 events taking place in the City, focusing on important political events of the Central Government, the National Assembly, the City People's Council, international delegations and the Hung Kings Commemoration Day, the April 30 - May 1 holiday.
In the field of crime prevention and control, the Capital Police force has synchronously deployed measures to prevent, detect, and strictly handle all types of crimes and violations of the law.
Notably, the City Police investigated and solved 2 prominent cases that were of particular public concern and support, and were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Minister of Public Security and the Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee.
Party building, force building, and political and ideological work continue to be emphasized.
In particular, on April 18, Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung, Director of the City Police and the collective of the Criminal Police Department were honored to be awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and State.

Along with that, digital transformation and application of science and technology continue to be promoted.
In March 2026, the Ministry of Public Security scored the City Police Department as "excellent" in science and technology development, innovation, digital transformation and Project 06. At the same time, the City Police Department officially operated the new version of document management and operational operation system; deployed solutions to serve the construction of smart cities, application of AI cameras, and internal software to serve direction and administration.
During the month, the City Police successfully organized an online legal education dissemination program called "Gen Z Class" to 100% of high schools in the area, with over 7,000 students participating, bringing practical efficiency in propaganda, dissemination, and legal education.
Concluding the Conference, Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung, Director of Hanoi Police Department, requested units to continue to firmly grasp the situation, focus on drastically implementing the resolution of 5 "bottleneck points" in the City, especially 2 bottlenecks in urban order and traffic congestion; identifying this as a key political task, associated with the responsibility of the head, there must be clear changes.
Regarding crime prevention and control, the Director of the City Police Department requested units to effectively implement Resolution No. 21-NQ/ĐUCA of the City Police Party Committee on sustainable reduction of 10% of cases of crimes against social order; tighten management of entry and exit, management of residence of foreigners; strengthen inspection and handling of unlicensed karaoke, bar, and lounge establishments, disguised activities; review, propagate, guide, and inspect fire prevention and fighting, to prevent large fires causing serious damage in the hot season.
Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung also requested Heads of units to effectively implement Resolution No. 02 of the Central Public Security Party Committee on building a contingent of People's Public Security officers in the direction of "Ministry, comprehensive province, strong commune, sticking to the grassroots"; tightening discipline and order, enhancing the responsibility of heads; focusing on completing digital transformation solutions in the City Police, determined to excellently complete the tasks of May 2026.
