With the use of the temporary rest stop at km205, the functional unit agreed to terminate the operation of the temporary rest stop at km199 - 6km away.
The temporary rest stop at km199 only has a parking lot and a toilet, and was put into urgent operation on April 24, 2024 to solve the need for rest stops and cleaning for people on their way home during the holiday at that time. However, many spontaneous shops have sprung up in this location, building highway protection fences for business.
After the temporary rest stop at km205 was put into operation, at the end of January 2025, many functional units including Road Management Board 7 (Ministry of Transport), Traffic Police Department, Road Management Office IV.1 and operating units inspected the scene at km199 and agreed on the plan to dismantle the temporary rest stop at Km199+700 of the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet Expressway.
A barbed wire fence will be installed here and rocks will be poured to re-lock the entrance to the temporary rest stop, but this activity is no longer in place. At the same time, 2 signs prohibiting stopping and stopping parking and prohibiting gathering and trading here were put up.
However, the shops are still operating and the highway fence is full, creating gaps for drivers to pass. This area has had traffic accidents when vehicles from the roadside parking lot turned onto the highway.
The Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet Expressway is planned to have 2 rest stops at Km 205+092 through Ham Thuan Bac district and at Km 144+560 through Tuy Phong district, Binh Thuan province. The area of each station is 10 hectares, including the left and right sides of the route.
