On September 9, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province held a meeting with the Standing Committee of the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel Soldiers Association in 1972, chaired by Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien.
At the meeting, delegates reviewed 81 days and nights of fighting to protect the ancient citadel of Quang Tri, one of the heroic history of the nation. In just over 3 months, this place has suffered hundreds of thousands of tons of bombs and bullets.
However, our army and people are still fighting steadfastly, protecting every piece of land of the Fatherland. The sacrifice of tens of thousands of officers and soldiers created an immortal epic, contributing significantly to the final victory of liberating the South and unifying the country.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien affirmed that the Party Committee, government and people of Quang Tri will forever remember the merits of heroes and martyrs; at the same time, continue to implement the policy of gratitude, care for the material and spiritual life of veterans, families of martyrs, war invalids and people with meritorious services. He emphasized that the province will unite and strive to build an increasingly rich, civilized, and sustainable homeland.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also informed the veterans about the outstanding results after a period of implementing the 2-level local government model. At the same time, he assigned departments and branches to study and absorb the recommendations and proposals of the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel Soldiers Association in 1972 to facilitate the Association's activities in the coming time.
